Barry McGeough discusses digital avatars of dead people, priced at $1,400 for the avatar plus a $140 app to chat with them. The technology is unnervingly realistic, raising questions about whether you'd actually use it.
Hi there, my name is Adrian. Well, not Adrian Adrian, but TikTok's latest Symphony digital avatar.
That was just launched last week. That's not a real person. That's totally synthetic, and that's kind of believable. [FOREIGN LANGUAGE] So that's a guy talking to his mom who already passed away. They are selling digital avatars of people after they die, and they're selling them for $1,400. And pretty soon they're going to have an app and you'll be able to talk to the person that passed away, your loved one, for $140. So it's a little Black Mirror, but I would ask you guys, would you do either of these?
