Adam Draper argues startups underprice by about fourfold and should multiply their price by four, then focus on the top 25% of customers. Spencer Skates of Amplitude says true scaling means reinventing the startup every 24 months, not just acquiring more customers.
So, I always say startups undervalue their pricing. So, they underprice themselves by about 4x most of the time.
Okay.
And like, all you have to do is multiply your— know who your customer is, multiply it by 4. And if you do that and 25% of people stay, you will build a better product for those 25% of people because all of a sudden, you don't have to service the other 75% of people. And they already bought in and they're paying. And like, that's what building it— that's what Spencer Skates from Amplitude, he gave just an amazing talk at Boost VC once where he said, I used to think that scale in a startup meant more, more customers, more money, more, just more, more, more. And he said, I never really understood that scaling meant reinventing myself every 24 months.
