Welcome to our live show!

In this 15‑minute live segment of “A Healing Moment with Dr. A'Shellarien Addison,” the host opens with a celebratory, faith‑based greeting and frames the episode as a spiritual respite. She outlines four focus areas: (1) mastering money and credit, emphasizing that mismanagement—not money itself—is problematic, and provides concrete steps such as obtaining a free credit report from annualcreditreport.com; (2) personal empowerment, urging listeners to identify life domains needing mastery (time, focus, employment, relationships) and set clear, biblically‑grounded goals; (3) nutrition and gut health, explaining the gut‑brain axis, dysbiosis, and the principle “let your food be your medicine,” while warning against processed foods; and (4) trauma’s collision with faith, describing trauma as overwhelming events, critiquing spiritual bypassing, and encouraging honest acknowledgment, professional help, and integrated faith‑based healing. Throughout, she interweaves scripture, personal exhortation, and practical resources, concluding with contact information for further support.

This is the day the Lord has made. We will absolutely, positively rejoice and be glad in it. I was glad when they said unto me, let us go into the house of the Lord. Our feet shall stand within thy gates, O Jerusalem, for a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I'd rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than to dwell and the tents of wickedness. Welcome to A Healing Moment with Dr. A'Shellarien Addison Addison Addison, airing Sunday mornings at 9:45. This is your respite from life to steal away to take care of you. Trauma continuously collides with our faith. Let this 15 minutes be my gift to you as I walk with you on your healing journey. Over the next 15 minutes, we will talk about mastering over money, empowerment, nutrition, and trauma. So let's jump right in. Mastery is defined as comprehensive knowledge or skill in a particular area. It is my desire to help you navigate your life within the context of your world. Money is a major challenge for many of us, not because it's bad. The Bible says the love of money is the root of all evil. Not money. Managing and mismanaging money is the challenge. How we budget, how we save, how we manage our credit, how we manage our retirement are all things we need to master. Did you know that credit can make you or break you? It's important to understand that credit drives this world, whether you choose to participate or not. Your credit matters. I know people say cash or queen is king or queen depending on your preference. However, when you want to buy a house, you want to buy a car, you want to get some utilities at your house and certain other things, you're going to need your credit to help you do it. So the first step toward mastering your credit is knowing what's on your credit report. Go to— there's various ways that you can find a free credit report, annualcreditreport.com. Like, there's so many ways So we have no excuse. Go to the library, use the computer, pull your credit, see what's on there. All right, so when it comes to empowerment, only you know what you need. The Bible says, in all thy getting, get understanding. So look, what areas in your life need mastery? Is it time management? Is it focus? Is it employment? Is it a relationship? Whatever it is, only you can set the path. I'm just here to help you narrow down your focus to come up with some clear goals for your life. Now, when it comes to nutrition, we are eating way too much processed food. Way too much processed food. Your health matters. Did you know that your gut is the center of your health? Your body has a microbiome that has a direct connection to your brain. It's called the gut-brain axis. When you take care of your gut, your gut takes care of you. So here's a famous quote I want you to remember: let your food be your medicine, or your medicine will be your food. Our gut has good bacteria and it has bad bacteria, and the goal is to get rid of the bad bacteria and feed the good bacteria. So what happens is when you have more bad bacteria than good bacteria, it's called gut dysbiosis. It's an imbalance of your gut microbiome, and it can have some lasting effects on your life. When your gut is out of balance, it can lead to increased inflammation, impaired nutrition absorption, and disruption in your hormones. Baby, These, uh, hot flashes, ladies, I'm telling you, these hot flashes is crazy. They are crazy. And some of it goes back to our gut. And so I have various things that I want to tell you about your gut, but that's not what we talking about right now. So what we talking about is how trauma collides with our faith. And sometimes trauma collides with our faith in ways that we don't understand. And the challenge for many believers is moving past the notion that we don't need spiritual clinical intervention. This is what I'm saying: it's okay not to be okay. And I hear you saying, we pray, we fast, we let God do it. Well, amen. Faith without works is dead. After you pray, after you fast, after you do everything, what do you do now, knowing that God is a healer? And allowing space for God to heal you are two very different things. Healing from trauma takes work. There are times when we become the collateral damage of other people's foolishness, and we are left to deal with the aftermath. There's a drunk driver that kills your mom. Is that God's fault, or is that the drunk driver's fault? So now your emotional life is now the collateral damage of somebody who chose to get in a car while they were drunk. And so this is what I'm saying: whether your trauma is a result of something you willingly walked into or something that happened to you, the healing still requires acknowledging the trauma. You have to be able to say, this has happened to me, and God, I need your help. You have to accept that you need healing and allow space for God to heal you. Trauma is real. It's an event. It's anything that makes you feel like you can't breathe. It's extremely upsetting and it temporarily overwhelms your internal resources. I know we believe God. We also believe that God touches the hearts and minds of people to help us do what we need to do. So I want you to consider this. Consider what's going on in your life. What's going on in your life that's making it difficult for you to say, I really need some help? What is making it difficult for you to say, you know what, God, I can't do this by myself? We talk about it, we sing about it, we pray about it. Here's the thing, faith-filled trauma survivors, that's us, we create reasons to stay stuck, and it fuels our resistance to asking for help. However, integrated, activated faith creates the space for healing release. Now here's the thing, the reason that leads to resistance is because of permission. I hear you saying, permission for what? Well, we have to give ourselves spiritual permission to not be okay. I know you're saying, what are you talking about, lady on the radio? What are you talking about, Doc, Reverend, whatever y'all want to call me? I'm talking about, unless you say to you, listen, we need some help, we're gonna stay stuck. We're gonna stay stuck in where we are. We're gonna use faith as a mask. Let me tell y'all something. Here's something I want you to look up. Spiritual bypassing. Google it, ask Siri, spiritual bypassing. What is that? That is using spiritual language, spiritual practices to avoid talking about your emotions. We're not talking about when you pray about it, you fast about it, and you really waiting on God to do it. I'm talking about I say to you, how you doing? You say, I'm too blessed to be stressed, ain't taking no devil's mess, and then you crying in your car after service. That's what I'm talking about. I'm talking about where you really, really, really, really are not addressing your trauma. You're not addressing your pain. You're just using these, these, these little euphemisms or sayings or slogans or mantras or, you know, just to kind of put a Band-Aid on the wound. You're not really addressing it. Let me tell you something, when you, when you get a wound You got to let it breathe sometimes. You can't always put the bandage on it so fast. You got to let it get some air and all this kind of stuff. But that's what happens to us when we don't address our trauma, you know. We put band-aid after band-aid after band-aid, and God is saying, wait a minute, you know, I came that you may have life and have it more abundantly. What are you doing? That don't look like me, that don't sound like me, that don't feel like me. You know, you look the part, you sound the part, and you're absolutely not the part. That's what I'm saying to you. You've got to address what's hurting you. You've got to address the trauma that's in your life. Think about Psalm 42 when it says, why are you disquieted within me? It's talking to my soul. It says, my tears are my food day and night. There are times when trauma has really affected us in a way that we need to talk about. We going through some stuff right now, y'all. We going through some stuff right now in this country. And so we've got to be able to be honest and say, I need some help. I need a prayer and a pill. I need Jesus and a couch. All these kind of things. All right, all right. Well, that's our time for today. I pray something you heard today has blessed you. I would love, love, love to hear from you.
