You can solve for the last person but you can’t do it for them

Aaron LeBauer explains why coaches can guide clients but can't do the work for them. He moved from low-cost memberships to high-ticket masterminds because higher prices create better commitment and results. Clients must take personal responsibility and execute, while coaches stay committed to never quitting on them.

Welcome to the Aaron Labourer Show. This is the number one show for passionate physical therapy and healthcare entrepreneurs looking to level up their income and impact on the world. If that's you, then you're in the right place. So sit back, chill out and let's get into the show.
Hey, welcome back to the show. This is Aaron. Today what I want to do is talk a little bit about personal responsibility. It's one of those things that we all have, but we all take for granted and sometimes we put it on other people's to do our stuff. So I've been thinking about a few things lately, about our responsibilities and things like that. So this is a. So a couple weeks ago I was at a boardroom event with Taki Moore and one of the presenters, George Bryant, said solve for the last person. So sharing this with some of my clients, like sharing his framework, he taught us on the customer journey. It was like, winners are gonna win, high performers are gonna win. The people in the middle, they just need a little bit of help and some direction and time and focus, you know. But when you solve for the last person, everyone's gonna win, right? And I was sharing this one of my clients and, and then he shared with me, I shared this with Brandon Smith and he shared with me a video that Andrew Tate did about I don't fix broken birds. This was great. It's like an Andrew Tate. Whether you agree with Andrew Tate or you know who he is or not, like this is really cool. He's like, I don't fix. And he, and he said, someone else said this, but I don't fix broken birds. He said. One of my mentors told me this because if you don't succeed, they're gonna die in your hands anyways. And if you do, they're just gonna fly away. And I'm sure as a healthcare provider you've seen this where you give everything to your patients and they just don't do the thing. Like they just don't schedule time to walk every day for five days or they just don't go and buy the self treatment tool or the medicine or the whatever. And you know, this got me thinking. I was like, okay, like I can solve for the last person. Like I can solve the problem, but it's still not my responsibility to do the work for them. So you can solve for this person. I can solve for the last person. You can solve for the person that needs the most help. But it's like the old saying goes, you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make them drink. I can lead you to water. I just can't make you drink. And what happens, I think sometimes is people get to the water and they go, ooh, I'm not sure. Is the water clean? Is it dirty? Is it gonna turn me into a unicorn? You know, is it gonna kill me? Is it gonna make me better? Is it the thing I need? Like, I don't know. And that's this indecision piece. And I can't make decisions for you. You know, you hear hurt people, hurt people. And broken people are broken for a reason. Right. Like, there's this level of personal development. I've gone through a lot of personal development in the last year and a half. I mean, but the four or five years before that, I was working on things, going to therapy, doing personal development programs to make myself a better person, a better husband, father, et cetera. Like, I'm constantly working on it, you know? Right. So there's some things that we can do and can't do, and sometimes we just don't know what we can do. We need someone to show us the light at the end of the tunnel. But I thought this was a really cool thing to talk about and want to share my thoughts with you about this because, like, we've, like, we've got that system. We've got that, but it really, it is. It's up to you to decide whether you want to start a business, whether you want to grow, whether you want to change. Because sometimes change is scary, and sometimes staying the same. What's it like? The devil you know is better than the. Than the devil you don't. So winners aspire to be better, and they make you better at the same time. So that's why if you're a business coach or a physical therapist, is really great to work with the people that are winners, the people that are invested in their health. That's why our patients who pay cash, they come in, they go home, they do the work because they're invested in themselves. And even as I've grown my coaching business, I've charged higher and higher prices. People get better and better results, which is really crazy. I used to have. I had like 60 people paying me $97 a month for a monthly membership program. I killed that program. I started charging 397, and then, actually, I think it was 97. Then I raised the price. 397 had 20 something, 25 people doing that, and they got okay results. But then when I started charging $1000 a month and really 1500amonth. People got great results. And now we're doing like 2,100amonth. And people get even better results. I do a $5,000 VIP day, $50,000 coaching year. People like blow up because they're invested. So here's what I want you to do. I want you to think like a winner. Because winners win. And the only way that you lose is by quitting. When you quit, you lose. But if you keep working towards your goals and you keep trying and you learn the lessons, you're never going to lose. Winners aspire to do better every day. It's like you're almost not satisfied. You're replaying what went well. Like Michael Phelps. I guarantee you every time he won, he's still like, where could I have done better? There's a marginal gains in cycling. I think it's another place. But the sky team in ineos like marginal gains. I mean, they were the first cycling team to take during the Tour de France, fly in everyone's mattress and put it in their hotel room every night. Like they sleep on their own mattresses, not the hotel mattresses. They do all the little things. They're aspiring to do better. And they won like six out of seven tours in a row. But being around winners makes you better. That's why I go to events and that's why, like, I like working with winners, which is amazing. So one of the things I've done in coaching program is I've built this step by step blueprint to get you six figure cash practice, right? And it's a do it, do it by yourself. But I've laid out all the steps type of program and people go through that, they do it on their own and they crush it in six figures. There are people that don't do that and they just buy the book and they go do it. Or people that figure this out on their own and somehow get there. And just imagine if you had a shortcut, you know? And that's why in our Platinum Mastermind program, we build a roadmap and I take people and we create individualized game plans to take your existing business to multiple six figures or even seven. And I look back and so I've got that, like I've solved this problem, you know, Have I solved for the last person? Well, sometimes the last person doesn't want to do it. And I think that's where I'm getting at is like the last person that wants this lifestyle, not the last person that wants to be saved. So there's something that that Bedros used to say. Or maybe Craig. Craig. He would say it, but Craig Ballantyne would say, there's no man on a white horse coming to save you. Like from the Disney movies. There's no, you know, and. And we can make it gender neutral or whatever, but there's no person coming on a white horse to save you from your business or from your. From your life, from the things that you got into. I mean, occasionally, you know, you got a rescue person, but like, a rescue swimmer is going to jump in the water to get you. You still got to hold on, right? You've got to do this work yourself. For instance, I posted on my Facebook feed while I was in Hawaii, I was like. I posted this thing. I was like, let me see what I can do to get some more clients for the clinic. I was like, hey, I've got a back pain ebook I give all my patients. And, um, to help them feel better, you know, stronger, faster, without and recover from back pain without pain meds, injections, and surgery. Want a copy of it? And it was a bunch of pts. Wanted it. I was like, what do they want? Do they want to learn marketing? They just want to figure out what I'm doing? Um, but, like, everyone's like, well, I want this ebook. And I. Okay, great. Like, you can have a copy of my ebook from my clinic. And I've worked with people building out their email sequences, and they're like, well, aren't you going to write the ebook for me? And yes and no. Like, I can show you mine. I could give you mine. But if you put it on your website to give to your patients, just gonna have my name in it, my pictures and my style of treating. It's not gonna have your stuff in there. It's not gonna have your personality, your authenticity. I can give you an outline for an ebook, and you still gotta go in and change the names and put in your bio and put in some of your things. But you know what? The better thing for me to do is to show you how to do it. And then you. Yes, it takes some time, but then you create it and it's more authentic and it's more yours, and it's going to actually attract even more people to your business. I think I mentioned this, but I've been doing this since 2013, maybe 2012. But one of my first coaching clients, I was thinking about them the other day. Joe and Olivia Caruso. I think Joe passed away a few years ago from cancer. And I remember I'd get on a call with him as the time I was doing one on one calls and they wanted to convert their business. It was PT and I think she's a dietitian. And they're moving to Cash and I do some calls, they go do the work. I do some more calls, they go do the work. I was like, this is great. It was just problem solving along the way. I wasn't making it up, but I was giving them outside eyes, outside view of what worked in my business and what I'd seen worked in other peoples that I'd helped at that time. But they were one of my first big, big coaching clients. And I've been. And that was in 2013. I looked through my emails, like, when was that? I was like, it's 2013, so in like July. So that's been 10 years, which is really cool. And I've worked with, I've helped start thousands of practices and worked with thousands of clients. We put a thousand people just through the Cash PT blueprint, hundreds of people through our platinum Mastermind program. And in that time we've built a proven framework. Like there is a proven framework of how to do it. You know, you don't have to go figure it out on your own. And at the same time, I have a new client who's coming in for a $5,000 coaching day. And I was like. And referred to me by someone else. And she'd never heard of me. I was like, my ads guy's doing a bad job. She's like, yeah, but I didn't trust like the Facebook ad gurus and I wanted to do it on my own. Great. She did on her own. But now we've got a lot of things that we can go fix and build for her. And so I get it. Like, there's a lot of distrust. There's a lot of people think that my book's a scam and, you know, what's the scam and all these things. Like, I get it. And that's your story. I've got a proven framework that's helped a lot of people. And you can choose to use mine or you can choose to use someone else's, or you can choose not to do it. That is your choice. That's not mine. Like some of the things I can't do for you is I can't decide to start. I can't make your decisions for you. I'm not your consultant. I'm more of an advisor and coach. I had someone get on a call with me this week who, you know, they've got like a startup and they want to create like a software for physical therapists. And they're like, oh, so what are the deliverables? I was like, well, you know, we spend time together and I build out these plans for you and we map out your marketing. She's like, oh, so you're not really a consultant, you're more of a coach. I'm like, exactly. Cause like a consultant might come in and deliver a marketing strategy for them. I'm not gonna just give them a marketing. I was like, we're gonna build it together because I could give you my marketing strategy. But you know your customer better than I do. Maybe I know your customer better than you do, but I'm not gonna do it for you because that's not the most powerful way for you to succeed is I'm gonna help you do it and make decisions and hire the team to do it if you need someone else doing it for you. So the one, one thing I can't do for you is make a decision to start a business, start a cash practice, make a decision to start taking action. I cannot make your decisions for you. I can advise you on these decisions, but you have more information than I do. The other thing I can't do for you is I can't take the action for you and I can't do your work. Like I could, I could charge you a whole lot more, but like I said, it won't be that authentic. I'm not going to do your work for you. You've got to do the work if you want the results. If you want a life of freedom and fulfillment and you want a business that gives you prosperity, freedom, income, etc. You got to do the work. It's your responsibility to do the work. You've got to take personal responsibility for your actions. I can take you to the water, but I can't drink it for you. I can't fix your business for you. I can't fix your body for you. We all know surgeons think they can fix the person's body. And then now we as physical therapists are actually, we do the real work. You know, maybe accepting like, you know, life threatening disease, but really like, you know, I'm not doing surgery on your body and stitching you back together. You need to do the work. It's like physical therapy. It's hard work and you need to do it. I'm not going to do it for you. I'm going to charge you 100 times as much. But I don't still don't believe that's the most effective way to do it. Well, I've solved the problem for the last person. You just have to be willing to help yourself. And you don't have to be the last person. But I can tell you this, the one thing I won't do is quit on you. I'm not going to quit on you. And I'm not going to quit believing in you. I'm not going to quit on helping you. Whether we've been in coaching relationship or personal relationship or anything before. Like you've come to work with me or you see me at an event or whatever and I haven't seen you in 10 years and you need some more help. Like I'm here to help you out. Same with my patients. Patients come in, they see us, maybe they go somewhere else for their neck the next time, but they come back for their back or shoulder pain. Like, I'm here, I am going to be here and I'll always be here. And I'm not going to quit on you. So don't quit on yourself either, because I won't. You're only going to be. This is something that Bedra said, um, not in quotes, but this is my thing in it. And I resonate with this. You're only gonna be successful as your personal development. And if you're not working on yourself, making yourself better, leveling up your mindset and growing, like this is my interpretation of it, you're not making yourself better, leveling up your mindset and growing. You're never gonna grow your business to the level you expect or deserve. It's always gonna be limited by your mindset, your beliefs in your success and your ability to help others. So are you ready to get started or what? See you on the next show. Hey, what's up? It's Aaron. Thanks so much for taking the time out of your day to listen to the show.
