In this video, I'm going to be sharing with you one tip that will make your audition really powerful. And if you watch this until the end, I've got a great bonus video for you— 7 easy steps for preparing for your next audition. Okay, let's get started. Hi, I'm Aaron Marcus, and welcome to the Acting and Modeling Quick Tips channel on the Actor Career Center. Auditioning is really hard, and some people actually perform much better than they audition, and they lose out on a lot of work because their audition just isn't as good as it could possibly be. And this took me a long time to figure out, but I view auditions kind of like songs. And what I mean by that is you, you perform your audition like a song. It takes you somewhere, it's interesting, it affects you. And what I used to do, and I've seen other actors do this, as soon as they say their very last word, they stop. And I realize that sometimes songs at the very end, they just stop. But most of the time, if the song is taking you somewhere and it's something that is meaningful to you and it's having some effect on you, quite often songs will slowly fade out. So this is a technique that I use in every single audition that I do. And instead of ending the audition on the very last word, I let it fade out. So let me give you an example. Let's say if we're having— if there's a scene and the other actor says to me, Look, I'm running late. I've got to take off. I'll talk to you tomorrow. And the person walks out the door. So instead of just ending the scene there, what I'll do is I will actually follow the person out the door. So it might go something like this. I'll think about what's— what just happened in In that scene, and then I'll come back. And the reason for doing that— and by the way, I'm not talking about 20 minutes here, I'm talking about 2 seconds, maybe 3 seconds, and I don't time it out. It's just whatever feels right in the moment. What happens is, first of all, you know, I'm taking the casting director or the director, whoever is watching this audition, to a place And I'm gently ending the scene for them. They can also see what kind of emotions I have during the scene and, and what just transpired there. And it's powerful. It really is. It also allows people to see you're not just saying words, but you're being affected by the words in the scene. And so for every audition I do, I always fade it out, even if it's, you know, even just it's a commercial and, and you're telling somebody how great something is. And I might just sit there and smile for a second and think about how wonderful this product is. Then I end it. So give that a try.
