In this video, I'm going to be sharing with you what a successful director said and actually lied about to a very famous actor. And after watching this video, you're going to get a really good sense of what you need to really listen to on sets, how to deal with it, how to filter things, It's going to be really helpful to you. I also have a great bonus available. It's the 5 things actors should never place on their acting resume. Okay, let's get started. Hi, I'm Aaron Marcus, and welcome to the Acting and Modeling Quick Tips channel and the Actor Career Center, where I share information with you from my 38-plus years of working as a full-time actor. If you haven't done this yet, don't forget, click the subscribe button, the notification bell, so you always know when I upload a new video. And if you like the video, give it a thumbs up. That's always really helpful. This was pretty early on in my career, and I was working on a TV show, and it's still— it's just still so unbelievable to me. Even though it's been many, many years. And they're shooting a scene, and I'm sitting in a chair close to the director. They're shooting a scene in, in an office, and the director, the writers, producers, they're all behind a wall, so the actors can't see them at all. Now, for a little background here, once again, this is a very successful Director— and once again, I never like to name names— but successful director, did big hit movies, very famous actor. This director really disliked the actor, disliked him personally, disliked him professionally. He would make these little comments throughout the day, and it was really clear that he just had no respect for him So they shoot a scene and the director is just really angry, really does not like what he's seeing. He takes his headphones off, throws them on the ground, and I'm watching. Once again, actors can't see him because we're all behind the wall. Walks over to the actor and, and he says, That was great. Really, really good. Liked it. Do me a favor, would you try bringing— bring it down just a little bit so I have another option just in case I need it? But I think I'm going to go with what you just did. It was really good. Thank you. And he walks behind the wall and he goes like this in front of everybody. Now, once again, actors can't see him. And I'm watching this and I'm thinking, even at this level, even with people who are at the top of their game, they're still lying to each other. And one of the major takeaways— and it was a— it was an invaluable lesson to me. Look, When somebody says something, whether, you know, director to me on a set, hopefully it's something positive. I'll take it in. I hear it. You know, it's always nice to hear, but I don't fully accept it. And if something negative is ever said, I hear it, prefer not to hear it. I don't take that in all the way either because I understand that people will say things to you For all different kinds of reasons, and sometimes it's not based on reality. And so, and this holds true for everything in the industry, listen to what people say, filter everything that you've heard, and then decide whether there's any truth to it. Is there anything that is helpful to you? But feel free to disregard things as well, because sometimes people just aren't being truthful. And it's still kind of shocking to me. So anyhow, I hope this was really helpful to you. If you have ever experienced anything like this— somebody said something weird, crazy, hurtful— please share it. And I will Personally comment on everything and respond to everything that you might say. Just leave it in the comments section here at the channel. I'd really appreciate you sharing information. Once again, you don't have to give out names or anything, and that way we can all learn from each other. 2 last things. Don't forget, if you haven't done this, click the subscribe notification bell. If you like it, give it a thumbs up and share. Share this information with your friends so that way we can we can continue to build a great community of actors who are helping each other. I did say I was going to share another really good bonus video with you. It's right up here, and it's 5 things you absolutely— actors should absolutely not put on their acting resume.
