It's an hour session, and you'll get a chance to learn a little bit more about this agency, the MMM Agency in Cape Town. You'll meet the agent and the owner of the agency. It's really an incredible hour session. Sit back and watch it. Okay, let's get started. Hi, I'm Aaron Marcus, and welcome to the Acting and Modeling Quick Tips channel and the Actor Career Center, where I share information with you, uh, from experiences that I've had as a full-time actor for over 38 years. And hey, look guys, if you haven't done this yet, click the subscribe button, click the notification bell so that way you always know when I upload a new video, which I try to do every Tuesday depending on my schedule. And if you like the video, give it a thumbs up, that's helpful. And please share the link with other people. You get a home audition, and by the way, I'm gonna have a list in the comments section about a number of things that you absolutely need to have in order to be prepared to do a home audition. Let me just tell you, home auditions— these things have been around even prior to the pandemic in certain markets, and you've got to be able to shoot auditions easily. Look, you could go out to a studio, you could hire people to do all that, which is fine. It could be very helpful to you. But honestly, you really want to learn how to do this on your own. So I'm going to have a really nice cheat sheet for you in the comments section just to make sure you know exactly what you need to do. So you get an email, you get a text, you've got an audition, it's got to be submitted tomorrow, you don't have a reader. Now the first question that comes up for people, do I really need an actor? Well, look, do you need an actor? No, you don't need an actor. Will it give you a better audition? Probably, especially if the actor is good, which is a really important thing to keep in mind. Somebody could say they're an actor, but if they're not very good at it or if they don't know how to read properly— and what I mean by that is, you know, are they overpowering the scene? Are they taking your ideas in a very different direction during the audition? Those really wouldn't be good. And of course, the reader is never seen On camera. So the reader should be— typically it's going to be camera left, right behind the camera, which is— that's the term. Just to keep this in mind, it's always from the camera's perspective. So for me, this is my right hand, but that's camera left. Like right now I am looking camera left. Something that you can always do if you're desperate and you don't have an actor, you don't have someone that can, you know, easily read with you at home, but you've got to get this thing done really soon. Here is something that I do all the time. What I do is I will send the sides to someone. I will discuss the scene ahead of time over the phone, and then I will just use my iPhone. And what you could do is if you wanted to You know, go on FaceTime. You could place, you know, your your cell phone camera, you know, camera left if you want, or camera right if you want, so that way you could see the other person reading. You don't have to, or you could just simply place your phone, put the person on speaker, and have it near, you know, your speaker. Make sure they're heard easily, that they're not overpowering you, and you can do a home audition. Even if you don't have anybody in your place who can do this with you. And that's what I typically do. Full disclosure, so I typically record actually with my daughter. She's not an actor. She has no interest in acting. She loves reading with me, and I actually just ask her to read it very plain, dead, no acting, just like if you're at a casting office. Typically, the readers there are going to read it pretty flat, and they want to see what you do Now, if you do have easy access to, once again, a good actor, yeah, it's going to be— it'll probably be better for you. What I do is I know what my goals are. I know what I'm trying to accomplish in this scene. So even though the lines, the response lines are coming back to me really flat, I hear it in a way as if The other actor in the scene is talking to me, so I can still feel it. But it's up to you. But just make sure you're able to read it in a strong way. There is a company, it's called WeAudition, and here is— I'm sharing with you the link. You can see what it looks like online. You can read all about it, and you can go there and, you know, you pay a fee. And you will be able to find a reader, I believe. And when you do some research, you'll see it's 24/7 whenever you need somebody, which is really pretty cool. I'm going to list 2 other places for you to check out. And once again, I'm not recommending any one of these. I'm not getting any kind of financial kickback for these things. I'm simply trying to give you really helpful information. So let me take a look just to make sure I am Pronouncing it properly. There is an app and it's called ActorTrade, and you can see it here. Just go to the App Store. And this is, this is also a cool place. What's nice about this is that it's set up for actors to help actors. And so every minute that you share and that you read with another actor, You get a minute of another actor reading with you. So it just seems like a really, really nice way to do it. And certainly you can pick and choose who you would like to work with. So that was number 2. I'm sorry, that was number 3, ActorTrade. Here's the very last one, and it's called Need a Reader. Need a reader. And this also is an app. You can see it here. And once again, just do some research on all of these before you make a decision and see which one is best for you. Just go to the App Store and you can download it on your phone. For Nita Reader, what they do is, if I'm not mistaken, and I have not used any of these services, but I believe they charge an hourly fee for you to do the audition. For some of these places, you can find out. You might even be able to get feedback. You might be able to ask questions. And if the person is really good, they're knowledgeable, they're experienced, they can explain things to you well, then this could be really, really helpful for your audition. And I think it might be Something like $10 an hour. I believe that's it. And I would tend to think that you could certainly shoot an audition within an hour. I mean, unless it's something crazy complicated and really, really, really long. And if all your equipment is set up and you're just, you know, there doing the scenes, it shouldn't— I can't imagine that it's going to take longer than an hour for you. So check out those 3 places. And do me a favor, I'd love to hear from you if you either have worked with any of these companies, you've used them, or you check them out. You know, in the comments section, please let me and others know which ones you have found helpful, why, what your experience has been. That would be great, and that way more people Can learn from you as well. Now, I did promise that I was going to share a link to this great session that I did for actors and models for this agency, MMM Agency, in Cape Town, South Africa. And you can see it above. Just click on it, sit back. It was done a few years ago, and you can see things have changed in the way that I shoot things now. So, but just listen to the I know you're going to find it really, really helpful. The very last thing, once again, if you haven't done this yet, don't forget to subscribe, click the notification bell. If you like it, give it a thumbs up and please share the link with other people. That's the whole purpose of this channel— actors helping other actors learn more about the business and sharing information. Okay, this was fun. I am Aaron Marcus and I can't wait to talk with you again soon. See ya. Bye.
