Aaron Marcus shares how his agent stopped emailing him because they had the wrong email address on file. He got the job posting only by calling her directly. If you're an actor or model, verify your contact info with your agent and follow up by phone, not just email.

Here's another acting and modeling quick tip with me, Aaron Marcus. This is a very uncomfortable quick tip that I'm going to be sharing with you, but it's important and I want to let you know about it. So there is, and I'm not going to mention any names, there's an agency I've been working with for a while and, um, I haven't heard from them, you know, for, for a pretty good amount of time. And I am on a listserv. There is a, there are lots of different listservs and people send, uh, acting and modeling information. They will send classes, they'll send jobs and auditions. And I happened to receive information on the listserv from this agent about a job. And I'm thinking to myself, why wouldn't the agent have contacted me directly? Why are they just sending it out through this? I understand why they're sending it out through the listserv, because they're just trying to reach a lot of people. But why wouldn't they have contacted me directly since I'm one of their talent? So I wound up submitting myself and I sent an email to the agency and I was very nice about it. I just said, I just wanted to find out, you know, I saw about I saw the information about this job on the listserv. Is there any particular reason why you didn't send it directly to me, or did you already submit me for it and maybe that's why? I didn't hear a response. So I sent another email just saying I just wanted to follow up because I know sometimes emails do get lost and didn't hear anything. And so now I'm getting a little bit annoyed, and so I decided, you know what, I need to call the agent. So I called the agent, and as soon as she picked up, She had this attitude with me. It was, Aaron, I got your email. I responded to you. And I said to her, I said, well, I just want to let you know, I never got your emails. I never got any responses. That's why I'm calling you. And she said, Aaron, I sent you the email directly. And I said, I never got it. Matter of fact, I haven't gotten any direct emails from you for a long time. I said, what email address do you have for me? And so she asked me to give her my new email address, and I guess she was doing a search and nothing was popping up. So the windup was she didn't have my correct email address. That's why I wasn't receiving the information. And so even though she was kind of making me sound like I was being a pain to her, I am so glad that I stuck to my guns. I decided to call her, and once again, I always stayed very nice with her, and I even let her know. I said, boy, I'm really glad I called. Now you have my correct email address so that way I can always hear from you. And it was interesting because a day later I get another email and I actually got it from this agent and it went through. So I guess the point is, if you are having any kind of issues with your agent, you know, trying to do things, doing, do things through email, it can be really tricky. I always recommend try to call or See if you can set up an appointment and show up in person. I mean, this agency is far from me, so I couldn't do that, but try to clear things up in person, live, not via email, because things can get misconstrued. Things can get messed up. People don't really understand what you mean sometimes with emails. So even though it's a little uncomfortable, it's in your best interest to always talk. I am Aaron Marcus. I hope you found this helpful. And you know what? If you're watching this, um, or reading about this on Facebook, uh, please like it. If you're watching this on YouTube, give it a thumbs up.
