Here's another Acting and Modeling Quick Tip with me, Aaron Marcus. This one little technique can make the difference between having people really interested in your audition and completely losing people's attention. So here's what you need to do. If you are auditioning, whether it's at home or at a casting director's office, if you're reading with one other person, then certainly you always need to look at that person, uh, not into the lens of the camera during the audition itself. The, the few The exceptions are if you're reading for a news reporter, maybe an anchor person, you're a spokesperson, if it's a commercial. Otherwise, it's always going to be— normally it's going to be camera left, your right, like over here. Some people will go to the other side. I don't know. For some reason, I prefer it here. Most of the time, you'll find the readers to be over here. Then here's the tricky part. What happens if you're doing a scene with 2 or 3 people? You don't sit there and still stare at the reader. Because that's only one person, even though they might be reading all 3 other characters' lines. So what you need to do is create the scene so that it seems like you're really on the set. It's really happening. So if you're going to be talking to one person here, then when the other person talks, you're going to look over here, and the other person talks, you're going to look over here. You never want to go too far away. You start getting a profile shot. And then that way, as you interact with the other people, You connect with them over here, connect with them here, connect with them here. That way it really feels like you are in the scene. And it is— it sounds like a small thing, it's a huge part of the audition that can be incredibly helpful to you just to make it seem more real. I hope you found this helpful.
