In this concise tip video, Aaron Marcus addresses a common challenge for aspiring actors and models: generating reliable income while pursuing their creative careers. He highlights substitute teaching as an accessible, part‑time "survival job" that requires minimal specialized skills but does demand responsibility and adherence to state‑specific certification rules (e.g., some states need a college degree, others only a health clearance). Marcus explains how substitutes can pick shifts on short notice, earn enough to cover living expenses, and maintain a flexible schedule that doesn’t interfere with auditions or shoots. He then promotes an upcoming online workshop (May 9) that will teach participants 37 alternative survival jobs—beyond typical bartending or waiting—many of which align with acting/modeling skill sets. The workshop also provides a curated list of 87 websites related to these jobs. Viewers are urged to register via a link, noting that seats are limited but the session will be recorded for later viewing.
