Aaron Marcus tells actors and models when to stay with a smaller agent versus switching to a bigger one. Larger agencies can lose talent if they don't book consistently. He recommends keeping your original agent while adding a bigger one for access to more jobs, rather than chasing prestige.

Hi, here's another acting and modeling quick tip with me, Aaron Marcus. You know, I've heard this from a number of agents, managers, actors, and models, and the reality is bigger is not always better. And here's what I mean. There are, there are a lot of people who have this idea that they want to leave their current agent, which might be a smaller named agent. Maybe they're in a smaller town. because they want to be represented by an agent with a bigger name, one that's larger. And let me just tell you, I mean, look, sometimes that is a progression that makes sense, but let me also just tell you that if you're happy with your current agent or manager, you know, don't be so quick to get rid of that person, especially if that person is the person who helped you get started. Helped give you the information in the industry. And you know what? It's not always an either/or. There are plenty of people who have and maintain a relationship with a smaller agent in a secondary market, and maybe they also have moved or they are commuting to a larger market. And basically, both agents are doing different things. They are submitting you for different kinds of jobs, so it's not any kind But, you know, the thing is sometimes people get lost at a big agency. And, you know, the fact of the matter is the people who make the agent the most money are the ones who are going to be sent out the most and submitted first. And so if you, you know, don't have a really strong track record of booking, you could get lost at a big agency. And it's always, you know, look, people like to let their ego get in the way and say, oh yeah, I'm represented by this agency, because it sounds very impressive. But the fact of the matter is, you know, The fact is you might be getting even more work with a smaller agent. So before you even think about cutting ties with a smaller agency, especially if it's the one that got you started, see if you can actually work with both. That seems to make the most sense to me. And you've got the best of both worlds. You've got somebody who's really looking out for you, someone that you can easily turn to for questions and answers. And if you also want to be working in a larger market, you've got that option as well. So anyhow, I hope this was helpful. to you.
