Aaron Marcus explains why you shouldn't automatically shake a casting director's hand when you walk in. Some directors dislike it. Instead, ask if they need your headshot and resume, then follow their lead. Small moves like this can make or break how an audition goes.

Here's another acting and modeling quick tip with me, Aaron Marcus. I know some of these things might seem a little bit silly, a little bit unusual, but let me tell you from experience, sometimes these little things can make the difference between making a great first impression with somebody or potentially being kept out of work. And don't be so shocked that sometimes it's the little things That can make a huge difference, especially at an audition. So one of the things that I always stress is that when you walk into a casting director's office, you know, in, in the normal world, you know, you meet somebody new in a business situation, you put out your hand, you shake their hand. Don't do that. And the reason is there are some people who don't like to shake hands. And so you don't want to be in a situation where, You know, you walk in, you say hello, you put out your hand, and they just kind of stand there. And then there's that awkward moment of you kind of slowly putting your hand back down to your sides. And now there's a weird thing going on, and you haven't even started the audition yet. So, as a suggestion, when you go into the audition, you know, you're going to first of all ask if they need a headshot and resume. Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't. And I follow their lead. And if they want to shake my hand, I'll shake their hand. If they don't, I just say hello. And that's how things get started. Anyhow, I know it's kind of a silly little thing, but it can make a huge difference. I'm Aaron Marcus, and if you found this helpful and you're watching this on Facebook, like it.
