Hi, I'm Aaron Marcus, and if you're not familiar with my work, I've been a full-time actor and a commercial model for over 30 years, booked over 1,200 jobs. Maybe you saw my recurring role on House of Cards, worked on Mr. Robot, Gotham, Halt and Catch Fire, Rectify, Law and Order: Criminal Intent, done hundreds of commercials, Hundreds of TV commercials and commercial print ads and voiceover work. Hey, let me tell you what I want to share with you today. When you are on a set, and I'm not talking about just extra work, but if you're a principal on a set, you do want to be really careful about what you eat. It's easy to kind of get thrown into this state of mind of, look at all this food. There's craft services. If you are a principal, people are running over to you, the PAs, asking you what you would like. And there can be tons of food. You break for— it could be breakfast, could be lunch, could be for dinner, depending on your work schedule. And it's easy to just start gobbling up lots of food, but you got to be careful. And I learned this the hard way. I was working on a training film And we broke for lunch, and so they had someone go out to a Mexican restaurant and had a lot of bean burritos and vegetables. And all of a sudden, I guess about, I don't know, 30 minutes, 45 minutes later, we're starting to shoot and my stomach started to growl. And I've got a microphone sitting right on me and we're doing a take and all of a sudden you hear a noise. And we had to cut. And it was kind of embarrassing, um, just to hear my stomach talking, and those weren't the right lines. So here's what I've learned: eat really lightly when you are on a set. Simple things, nothing that's going to make your stomach churn in any kind of way. And also, if you eat a really big meal, at least for me, it gets me tired and makes me a little bit lethargic. So I just finished doing a couple of TV commercials. They were political spots, and they broke for a meal. And I tell you, it was hard because some of the food looked great, but I made sure that I just ate a little bit. I had some granola bars, had some fruit, had some bananas just to get some extra potassium in me. And I found that it was so helpful. It allowed me to concentrate more, and it allowed me to be more alive. and have more energy. So, you know, just be really careful. Don't overeat and don't eat things that could make your stomach start screaming and things that are going to tire you out. Anyhow, hope you found this helpful. I'd love to hear any thoughts that you have about meals, food that you found helpful when you're working, or foods that have created problems for you. And the very last thing, as you can imagine, it takes a tremendous amount of time and money and an effort to keep this channel up and running.
