Hi, my name is Aaron Marcus, and I just got back from auditioning for an incredible television show. Boy, I really hope I book this one. But anyhow, listen, I wanted to share another quick tip for you. It's from the Quick Tips series, and the title of this blog is Don't Be Too Prepared for a Voiceover Job. And what I mean by that is this: I just recently did a voiceover for a huge investment company, And the way that I go about preparing is to certainly look over all the words, make sure I can pronounce everything, see if there are any kind of acronyms that I need to ask about, like do they want, you know, the letters spelled out, do they want the word actually said, make sure I understand all the words. And, you know, I want to get a basic flow, I want to be able to read through it very quickly and smoothly, but as far As far as knowing the intent and knowing exactly who this character is, I really didn't want to lock into anything, and I'm glad that I didn't because, like with many kinds of projects, the director will give you very specific information. And so I read it in a way that I thought they might want, and we tried it that way a few times, and then they had some very, very different ideas. And so because I wasn't so locked into having to do it a certain way. I was able to easily make adjustments and really give them what they want. It was a very short session. I would say probably the entire thing lasted 30 minutes, something like that, and only because they wanted to try many, many different things. So anyhow, the point is certainly be very familiar with the material, know how to pronounce everything, have a list of questions that you might have for the director once you go into the studio, and Make yourself available to make lots of changes if necessary.
