Hi, I'm Aaron Marcus, and if you have an early call time for feature film, television show, commercial modeling job, TV series, and you want to make sure that you don't oversleep, this will definitely make sure that you get there on time. Let me just tell you, I know I always have done straight acting, modeling, industry-related Quick tip videos for you. I decided to do something a little bit different here, and I just— I'm going to share a personal experience with you. And it honestly, it's really not, not connected to the industry at all, but I guess I've just been thinking, I get so many responses from people through my videos. I really feel that You know, we're starting to build an acting and modeling family here. And so I just decided that periodically I'm also going to share personal things with you. And to me, it makes me feel more connected. And certainly feel free to do that with me as well. So last Sunday night, I was alone in my house. My wife actually went to visit my daughter for the night. Couldn't do it. And so, um, went to bed around 11 o'clock and all of a sudden at 1:30 AM, I'm not really sure what it was that, that awoke me. I mean, it didn't just wake me, it startled me. I mean, I just like jumped, uh, jumped up out of a deep sleep. And I'm not sure if it was a sound. I'm not sure if it was movement. But, um, it made me very nervous, I can tell you that. And I just, I just like, I was startled. And I'm looking around the room and I don't see anything. So turn on the light, um, there's a bat flying around in circles in my bedroom above my head. And so I quickly figured out what woke me up. And actually, I stayed very calm. About, I don't know, like 30-some years ago, that happened one time before. We had a bat in the house. We have an old house and lots of trees in the area, and there are bats around, but it's rare that they decide to join me or join us. So I just calmly walked out of the room and closed the door, and I was able to call 911. And the operator asked, You know, what's the emergency? And I felt a little bit uncomfortable because, like, I know there are, like, real emergencies going on, but I really wasn't sure who else to call at that point. So, so I quickly told her, I said, ma'am, I don't know if this is considered an emergency. I wanted to let you know I've got a bat that's flying around in my bedroom. And really not sure exactly what I should be doing next. I didn't know if the police would come out. That's what happened last time. And so she said, well, first of all, I've got to tell you, you are the most interesting phone call I've had this evening. You win the prize. So I was happy about that. And also, she sent me over to animal control. And they said— I was told that they would come over and they would capture the bat for me, which I thought was great. So I'm hanging out and I'm waiting. And now it's 2:00 AM. Nothing. It's 2:30. I decide to undo the dishwasher, cut open a watermelon. I'm just— I'm very wired. I'm wide awake doing things around the house. And like around 3:30, I'm starting to get tired again. So I decided just to lie on the couch in our living room. I'm just going to wait for a knock at the door. And eventually around 4:00 AM, a guy came in. Really, really nice gentleman. And he explained, yeah, this is bat season. It's not unusual for that to happen. Um, and so went upstairs and he had a big— it was almost like a fishing net. Um, uh, you know, kind of like you catch a fish and you scoop the net in the water and pull it up, except it was huge. And he caught the bat and put it in a jar. And I said, so— What? Is there any chance that you can just release the bat? I mean, I didn't want anything to happen to the bat. Didn't want him in the house, but I said, you know, would he just find his way back in? I know sometimes that happens with mice. And he said, unfortunately, we have to test the bat for rabies. And that's just what they do. And I did— honestly, I felt bad, but that does mean they have to kill the bat. They said they need to know if it has rabies for 2 reasons. One is we need to know if there are rabies In the area, and that might mean other bats are infected. The other thing is for me, if the bat comes back positive, even though I don't— I don't think I was bitten. I mean, I think I would have known that. But the thing is, if the bat does come back positive, I probably will have to go through the series of rabies shots because it's deadly. And, you know, I don't want to take a chance in case I'm wrong and maybe I was bitten, but I just didn't notice it or feel it, because once you start seeing symptoms of rabies, it's too late to do anything. So I should be finding out later today whether or not the bat had rabies. And so really, really hoping it didn't. Otherwise, I will have to go through the series of shots. So anyhow, I just wanted to share that personal experience with you. I can tell you, getting woken up by a bat flying around your head is Better than any alarm clock or cell phone or alarm on a watch that I've ever experienced because I bolted. And I mean, I was up, I was awake, I was alert, I was sharp. It's powerful. And it was also, honestly, it was also just an interesting experience just to feel that. Because sometimes you get woken up in a deep sleep and you just feel groggy. Not that one. Anyhow, I just wanted to share that one with you.
