Hi, my name is Aaron Marcus, America's premier acting and commercial modeling career coach. What I want to share with you today is when you're putting together your acting resume, and let's say you're getting started, you haven't really done anything yet, what people always ask me is, what do I put on my acting resume? I haven't done anything. And so let me share with you a couple of ideas that I think will be really helpful to you. One of the things you want to do is Get some experience. I mean, without a doubt, putting things on your resume will be helpful to you. So one of the things that you want to start looking into, I mean, along certainly with taking acting classes and studying, or, and/or studying with people privately, uh, what you want to do is start searching for any local theater work. And not to say that theater is easy to get cast in, but, uh, There's plenty of theater around. And one of the things that's kind of nice is that even if you don't get cast in the role of the play, you definitely want to be involved with the theater itself. So maybe you can do stage work, you can do crew work, you can work in the box, whatever it takes and allows you to sit in on rehearsals, watch other actors, talk with some of the other actors. Just do everything you can to learn more about acting. Something else that you might want to try to do— I mean, hopefully you can book, you know, some of the local theater. That would be fantastic. The other thing too is check out local colleges, and whether it's community college or universities or, you know, 4-year colleges, see if in their theater department whether they're putting on plays. And if so, that would be another place to go to to try to audition and get some experience that you can add onto your resume. The other The other thing too is speaking of colleges and universities and community colleges are trying to find out if they have any kind of filmmaking class. And if so, speak to the instructor and find out if the students are going to be shooting films. If they're taking a filmmaking class, I can't imagine that all of the students there wouldn't have to create some kind of film. So what you want to do is make sure that you know what's taking place, what the films are about, and if there are any that are appropriate and good for you. And if so, audition. You're not going to get paid to do a student film, but you will get experience and you will be able to get a copy of any film that you're in. But that is a credit that you will be putting on your resume. And so those are just a couple of the areas that you definitely want to try to, try to get some experience and start placing it on your resume. The other thing too is If, let's say, there really isn't anything around there for you, maybe you could write something yourself. Maybe you know of a really talented person who is interested in writing screenplays and you can put your own group together and get somebody. You don't have to have fancy equipment. Put it together and shoot it. There are a lot of actors that have really gotten started by working as writers. This is just another opportunity to get experience And to add things to your resume. And also don't forget, some other things that are really important on an acting resume are the people that you have studied with. So that way, when you're presenting yourself to either casting directors or agents or producers, even if they see that you're just getting started, you really don't have much experience, if they can see that you've studied and that you've taken some good classes, that will be very helpful to you. So anyhow, I hope this was helpful to you, and if you have any questions at all, always feel free to email me at aaron@howtomodel.com. You can also ask me questions at my Facebook page, which is facebook.com/howtomodel. Looking forward to talking with you soon. I'm Aaron Marcus.
