Hi, I'm Aaron Marcus and welcome to the Acting and Modeling Quick Tips channel and the Actor Career Center. Look, this is Just my opinion. I get it. And one of the reasons why I want to share with you why I'm critiquing the Oscars and comparing performances is because I want to share my thoughts with you. But more importantly, I'd like to hear what your thoughts are. And I realize there are a lot of people out there who are going to feel very, very differently than I do, and That's great. I mean, I— that's why I want you to leave a comment so we can learn from you as well. And, and by the way, if you haven't done this yet, don't forget, subscribe, click the notification bell so you always know when a new video has been uploaded. And if you like it, give it a thumbs up. It's all about how to shoot home auditions, and also that way I can let you know when a new video has been uploaded. But look, I realize I'm a little bit different than most humans. I always have been. Don't have a college degree, which I know is a little bit unusual, although I play, play doctors a lot. Didn't go to medical school, and I just have always done things a little bit outside the box throughout my life, so I realize I'm coming to this from a bit of a different perspective than most people. My life has been kind of an alternative type of life. I dropped out of college, was a full-time songwriter, musician, toured for 7 years— well, I didn't tour for 7 years, worked for 7 years, toured for probably about 4. Then decided not to go to physical therapy school after going back to college and becoming a full-time actor. So I realized my, my history, my life is a little bit unusual. But let me just tell you, I don't understand the Oscars. Well, I understand it as a business. It makes a lot of sense to me. It brings in a tremendous amount of money for anybody who is even just nominated. People start watching those movies. For actors, it's great because their asking fees for their next project goes up a tremendous amount if they're just nominated. If they win, then it's astronomical. So from a business point of view, I completely understand Why we have the Oscars. Here's, here's the rub for me. I don't understand how you can compare and say this person is the best. I mean, look, as an ex-musician, when somebody would ask, well, who's the best guitarist? How could you say— how could you even contemplate that kind of answer? You talking about classical? You talking about jazz? You talking about rock? You talking about fusion? There are all different types of guitarists out there who are phenomenal. So I mean, I— look, I watched some of the films that were nominated as a SAG-AFTRA member. I do have free access to a number of the movies that were being nominated. Tell me, Honestly, how can you compare the acting performances with Conclave, Annora, The Brutalist? They're very different kinds of performances. Look, all these actors, they are phenomenal. And, and I'm not saying, look, everybody has to be given an award, everybody has to be told how great they are. All I'm saying is, for me, I can't. I just can't do it. I don't understand it. I can't say, who's the best orthopedic surgeon in the country? There are a lot of great orthopedic surgeons. I don't know. How do you compare different surgeons? The concept just doesn't float with me. I don't get it. And so I'd love to hear your thoughts about it, but I watch it And, and, and actually this year I only saw a couple of minutes of it, and I read about it the next day. I was just kind of curious, but I don't know, I just don't have the interest, you know, of comparing actors' performances during the Oscars. So anyhow, I just wanted to share that thought with you. And once again, please let me know what you think as well. I did promise a bonus video. You'll see it right up here. It's a great video. The best way to get started as an actor, you want to watch it. And so anyhow, just wanted to share my thoughts with you. Love to hear your ideas. I'm Aaron Marcus, and I can't wait to talk with you again soon. See ya. See ya.
