Aaron Marcus shows how to record an audition at home without a reader. Use FaceTime with someone else, position your camera carefully, and avoid pre-recorded lines for the other character's dialogue.

Here's another acting and modeling quick tip with me, Aaron Marcus. If you're in the fortunate situation where someone asks you to record a home audition, but the problem is there's nobody around and you've got to get this thing done before anybody is around, and your dog's not a very good actor, here's what I've done on occasion, and it's great. All you need to do is set up a FaceTime with somebody else, email or text them the sides. And the best-case scenario is if you can set your phone up camera left to your right, just like this, so that way you are seeing the other person as you're hearing them. And if you can't do that, if you can't arrange it that way, then just leave your phone close enough to the camera so that the reader the reader's lines are picked up and heard very clearly. Because you never want to just read your lines and skip the other lines. You don't want to try to pre-record the other person's lines and then play it back as you're reading. You always want another reader. This is the best way to do it, and it saved me on a number of occasions. So anyhow, I just wanted to share that with you. If you have any suggestions on what you've done when you had to do a home audition and there just wasn't anybody available, please go to Facebook facebook.com/howtomodel and leave a comment there or at the bottom here. That would be great. And if you have any, any additional questions, always feel free to reach out to me at howtoactandmodel.com. And don't forget, 5 days a week I have a great mentoring program. You can read all about that on my website, as well as learn more about my new book, How to Become a Successful Actor and Model. I'm Aaron Marcus, and I can't wait to talk with you again soon.
