Hi, I'm Aaron Marcus, and here is my latest video blog for my Quick Tip Acting and Modeling series. So this one deals with how to get a copy of your commercial modeling ad, which can be really tricky. And sometimes I find that actually getting a copy of the ad is more difficult than booking the job. So what I want to tell you about today is a situation that popped up For me this afternoon. And I did a job for a company about 3 months ago. And at the end of every job, I always ask the proper person, whether it's the photographer, the client, people from the ad agency— normally it's people from the ad agency— if I could get a copy. And normally people are very nice, they say yes. And then I will always follow up and ask, you know, how long should I wait? What's the best way to reach you? And so I was in a situation where I waited the right amount of time. I had it written in my calendar. Sent 2 or 3 emails to the art director who said that I should contact him about getting some JPEGs of the shot. Never heard from him. And so one thing to always keep in the back of your mind, they are doing you a favor. They don't have to do this. They're not obligated. So never start showing any kind of negative attitude, sending emails, hey, I've already sent you 3 emails. I haven't heard from you. You always want to be really nice and pleasant about it. So I didn't hear from him. So what I decided to do was I went to the company's website and I called. And I just spoke with the secretary and I just gave my name, gave the job that I did, said, I've been trying to reach so-and-so and I haven't heard back. So I just wanted to find out who would be the best person to speak with about trying to get a copy of the ad. And it was interesting because here I was thinking, the guy's not getting back in touch. Maybe something happened, the ad never ran. Maybe he is not getting my emails. And I didn't want to call the guy, I just wanted to send him an email because he said that was the best way to reach him. Maybe he was just avoiding me. I had no idea what was going on. Well, as it turns out, he no longer works for the company. And so I was sending these emails and they were just ending up in space. So the woman said, look, why don't you give me all the details, let me look into it, and I'll see what I can do. So that's what I did. Hopefully, I will get them sent to me and I'll get a JPEG or 2 of the actual ad or maybe ads because we did a lot of different shots. One of the things you definitely want to do is, first of all, you want to get the name and the email address of the right person to contact.
