Hey, if you've been submitted 20+ times and haven't gotten an audition, haven't booked the job, well, you're not alone. And let me also just tell you, it probably has absolutely nothing to do with your acting skills. Look, in this video, I'm going to share with you 4 specific things that will help you get more auditions. Hi, I'm Aaron Marcus, and I've been a full-time actor for over 40 years, and I'm telling you, These strategies work. Okay, let's get started. I want to share with you information that casting directors have told me. Here are the numbers. It's not unusual, depending on the project and the role, it's not unusual for over 1,000 headshots and resumes to be submitted to casting directors. So if you're not even getting into the room and you're not getting the opportunity to read for the role, Once again, this has nothing to do with your acting capabilities. It has more to do with your materials and how you're presenting yourself to them. The very first tip is you have to have— and this is essential— you have to have an effective headshot. And what I mean by effective, not it looks good, it's a really well-constructed headshot, it has to tell the casting director very specifically How you should be cast. What roles are right for you? You can't just do a generic kind of smile. It has to be really specific so people immediately put you into a specific category. And by the way, hey, if you're finding this helpful, don't forget, subscribe, click the notification bell so you always know when a new video is being uploaded, and feel free to share it with your fellow actors. The second tip, your resume has to look like a professional resume, and you can do this even if you're just getting started and don't have any experience. Make sure that all of the information on your resume is related to the acting industry. You don't want to put things on there like pageant work or modeling. These things have nothing to do with acting, and people will start viewing you as a pageant person or a model if that's what they're seeing in there. So just make sure that it has the right format that industry professionals expect. Number 3 and tip number 4 all have to do with if you are using the platform Actors Access. I can't say this for— it's 100% correct. I've spoken to a lot of people though who have told me about it, so I'm assuming this is true. Because casting directors get so many submissions for projects that they have to be able to filter things a certain way. So if you have an acting reel and you submit a headshot and resume, then your, your headshot and resume will be at the higher end of the list. They will see— look at those headshots and resumes first. If you don't Have a reel. And by the way, you can create a reel even if you have very little work to put on there, even if it's 15 seconds or 20 seconds, just, just something. If you don't have a reel, the next thing you can do is create a slate. A slate is a very short introduction of yourself, and I believe it's 6 seconds or 7 seconds. I think it costs around $5. $5. $6, $7 to put up there, and basically you're going to introduce yourself in a very short time period that will grab the attention of the casting directors or whoever is watching it. I like to wear the same wardrobe that I'm wearing when I had my headshot done, so it looks like a talking headshot. I think mine is something like, hey, I'm Aaron Marcus, I've been a full-time actor for over 40 years, and I've booked nearly 1,300 jobs. Just something. You don't want to give out your resume, you don't want to start talking about Job you've done. They'll look at that in your resume. Just something that makes you memorable to them. Hey, I'd love to hear what you do to try to get more auditions. Please share it here in the description. I do read every single one and will respond to you personally.
