Hey, are you an actor or a model and you were fortunate enough to get a commercial print booking, which is a commercial modeling job, which I happen to love, by the way? Probably done, I don't know, 900,000 print jobs. And after the job, you're really excited, but you can't get a copy of it, which is— it's crucial for our careers, for our commercial modeling careers. To get copies of your ad. So if you're in that situation, in this video, I'm going to be sharing with you 3 proven ways to get copies of your tear sheet. And by the way, stick around, watch this to the very end. I got to share with you a really interesting story. It was the weirdest commercial modeling go-see. I've ever attended. Okay, let's get started. Hi, I'm Aaron Marcus, and welcome to the Acting and Modeling Quick Tips channel and the Actor Career Center. So this happened to be just probably about a month ago, and I had a really good commercial modeling booking, and it was a lot of fun, and it's something I want to use in in my portfolio because it is absolutely crucial that we get these copies of the ads so that we can place them online. Clients can see the work that we've done to, number one, let people see that you're really good at what you do, you have experience, and it also allows them to see how comfortable you are in front of a camera. So it helps you get jobs. So here are, uh, the 3 secrets and 3 ways that I always use to try to get copies of ads. And I'm pretty good at doing this, by the way. And the crazy thing is, sometimes it's actually harder to get a copy of your ad, to get a tear sheet Then booking the job. But here's the very first thing. After my job, I always send an email to the client. Well, or at least the people at the ad agency and the photographer, because those are the ones who probably have wound up making the final decisions, and they're the ones who hired me. So I just let them know. It's a really short email. Great. Great working with you. It was a lot of fun. I hope that this is a successful campaign, you know, for your client. And I'd love to get a tear sheet copy of this ad. Wanted to find out when should I reach back to you? Okay. Send that out. And normally I get a response, you know, it was great working with you. Yeah. Why don't you give us a month or whatever it is? Then I'll follow up. I wait, you know, I'll put it in my calendar. And then the second thing that I do, is I will send them a note. Hey, just wanted to find out if things have been finalized and if I could get, you know, a copy of the ad. And quite often it just happens. Sometimes, especially I've found this to be more recently, I'll get an email back. Hey, just want to make sure you know this can only be used for personal usage, for promoting yourself. And as a matter of fact, the latest one that I did, I sent a note back. I said, if you have a contract for me to sign, more than happy to do that. I'm not trying to sell the ad. I'm just using it for my personal promotional purposes. And once again, normally that works. It's pretty easy. The very last thing that I will do if for whatever reason I'm just not hearing back from people, I will know where the ad is being used. And sometimes I can't get a hold of it, but if it's running in a magazine, I'll just get a copy of the magazine. If I know it's for a company, I might just contact the company directly and ask them if I could get a copy of it. So sometimes I have to go out and actually purchase it or just do a little bit of work outside of the ad agency. But it is so important that you do get a copy. There was one, and I worked pretty hard at this. I know why I didn't get it, because it was really hard. It was a job. It was an amazing story, and I'll share that another time. But I was flown to Hawaii for a job. The client, it's not an Ameri— it wasn't an American company at that time. This is before the wall came down. It was actually an East German company, and it was just kind of impossible to get a hold of them, and the photographer wasn't getting back, and I didn't know anybody at the ad agency. But normally I'm really good at being able to get copies. So hey, if you have any thoughts, suggestions, ideas of ways to get copies of, of an ad that you did, please share it here so we can learn from you. from you. That would be wonderful. I did promise a bonus video right up here. It was the weirdest modeling go-see I ever attended. I hope you, you enjoy that as well. Hey, I'm Aaron Marcus, and I can't wait to talk with you again soon. See ya.
