He says this builds non-competitive relationships and opens doors: an actor he'd helped once recommended him for two TV commercials. Find like-minded people, share what you know, and watch what happens.
Hi, I'm Aaron Marcus, and I wanted to share some information with you about giving back. Look, everybody does things very differently, and it's not like one way is the right way, the only way, the best way. But the way that I like to do things is I like sharing information with other people, and I don't have this feeling of, well, if I share information with you, then I'm going to get things in return. It's just not how I was brought up. That's not how I think. I like sharing information, and I think it's just a nice way to live your life. And so I've done that in the acting and modeling community as well. And there have been people— as a matter of fact, there was an actor who I auditioned with, and he recommended me to a production company. They wound up booking me for 2 TV commercials. And it was solely because this other actor recommended me. And so I just wanted to suggest to you, you know, try to find other people who feel the same way. Share information. You know, try to help other people. And whether you get anything in return or not, it just might make you feel good to do that. And personally, I can just tell you that it's It's been a wonderful way for me to do things for the past 30 years. And honestly, I don't feel competitive with other people. We all bring something special and unique to the table. So find people, help others, and hopefully you're going to run your business in a really good way, a way that you like, and a way that will allow you to sleep well at night as well.
