Aaron Hartman, MD examines why autism diagnoses have jumped from 1 in 10,000 in 1970 to 1 in 138 today. He explores a possible link between petroleum-based chemicals in the environment and rising autism and ADHD rates, suggesting chemical-induced inflammation in the nervous system may play a role.

Why is autism increasing in our country? There's a lot of debate over it, whether it's vaccines, whether it's. We're just recognizing it more. I really thought this graph was interesting because you can correlate petroleum based chemicals in our environment and the relationship to increase in autism and adhd. But the question why? Why is there an association with petroleum distillates, chemicals introduced in our culture? Why do you see autism going up? One thing of note in 1970 then since autism was about 1 in 10,000, now it's about 138. So something's happening. We're going to be talking about this over the next couple of videos. What could be going on? And maybe, just maybe part of this is chemical induced inflammation in our nervous and immune system called mcas. Mcas? Is that part of what may be going on in this chart we're seeing right here? That's what I'm going to be talking about because this is a big deal. We need to know why we're seeing more and more of these neurodivergent issues in our kids and we need to stop it. So hopefully this will be helpful to you.
