Aaron Hartman, MD explains that the brain is over 70% fat and that deficiencies in essential fatty acids correlate with rising neurodevelopmental issues. He describes functional-medicine approaches like omega-3-rich mayonnaise and sprouted-nut granola that helped his daughter's recovery, and notes that roughly 30% of Americans lack adequate C15, a fatty acid found in ruminant dairy.

If you've got brain issues, did you know you can heal them with fat? Over 70% of your brain is made of fat. Yet over the last 30 or 40 years, we've had this low fat craze, right? Low fat cheese, low fat milk. It's crazy. You separate how food is naturally made and make it into fake food, processed foods. One of the things I learned early in my career with Anna, with functional medicine and with patients is that we have a critical nutrient deficient in essential fatty acids. They're called essential for a reason, because you got to have them. What have we done? Remove them from our diet. And the result? More autism, more brain issues, more dyslexia. If you get injured, your brain heals more slowly. How do we use this information to help my daughter's body do what it's made to do? Self heal and self repair. We made brain mayo. What was brain mayo? I used a balanced omega 3 fatty acid with egg yolks, a little bit of lemon juice, some salt to make mayonnaise at home that she started putting on stuff. I made brain nuts, brain granola. What did I do? I took sprouted nuts, sprouted seeds, and made granola out of it with lots of omega 3s, omega 6s, trace minerals, rare earth minerals, and all of a sudden her body started healing and self rep comparing. It's really amazing. Sometimes the basics are all we need to do. We just need to perfect them and hone in on them. If you really want to go down a rabbit hole, look at C15. About 30% of Americans are deficient in C15, which is a specific essential fatty acid for brain health. And where do you get that from? You get it from ruminator milk, the cream dairy. Well, we've removed that from our entire food system. Healthy fats can heal. Finding the right kind of fats can help your brain heal and your body heal. So get on your track your path to healing. You'll see pretty amazing things happen with your health and that of your kids. Take care.
