I think they knew medicine better than we do now thousands of years ago, because they probably didn't have an overload of information. And yes, we have these trillions of organisms, as you already know, living inside of us that modulate our immune system. Some are good, some are bad, and we know that some of the good ones actually regulate a lot of important immune pathways. So some are regulating a lot of anti inflammatory pathways and decreasing inflammation, and some are modulating things that are helping us make neurotransmitters. And unfortunately, as a result of the diets that we're consuming, we're losing a lot of these beneficial bacteria in our gut. And this is where the harmful ones start to take over and then cause havoc.
