Increasing trans fat consumption increases your risk for heart disease 23%. So increase— every, every— each 2% increase in trans fat consumption increases your risk for heart disease 23%. We got that plain wrong. We recommended trans fats and margarine and I Can't Believe It's Not Butter. Guess what? It's not butter. To the detriment of our country, the FDA finally banned trans fats in 2015. So think about that. American Heart Association for 40 years recommended margarine or trans fats, and then in 2015, the FDA banned them. Doesn't get any weirder than that. And this happens all the time where we make recommendations, this is good for you, and then decades later we say, ooh, that's bad for you. But the funny thing, there's always a band of physicians, practitioners, people out there who know the truth, who, who say it's probably not good to eat, do Crisco, margarine, partially plasticized, you know, crystallized cottonseed oil, plasticized vegetable oil, rancid. You know, it's really interesting, a lot of oil, people don't realize canola oil, Um, actually is rapeseed oil, and no one wants to use rapeseed oil, so they change the name to Canadian oil or canola oil. It smells horrible, so you have to deodorize it, use a solvent to get it deodorized so it doesn't smell horrible. Like, we do this throughout to these fats, these things in our food system all the time. The question becomes how to find these before they become, um, an issue and to find reputable sources you can trust. Because the reality is people have known for decades that these fats were bad. It just didn't become nationally known until January of 2016. These blind spots in our healthcare system are everywhere, and educating yourself about them can literally save your life. So if you— if something in the system you'd like to share, maybe there's a blind spot or something you think that's right, that's, that's wrong, it's just that you think it's right, just plain wrong, share below. I'd love to hear about it. Um, I think together we can actually uncover a lot of these and move forward much quicker. It doesn't have to take 40 years. Maybe it can take 3 to 5 years to uncover these if we do that together. So share below and I'd love to hear from you.
