A short YouTube talk by Aaron Hartman, MD arguing that fasting and high-intensity training replicate many anti-inflammatory and anti-aging effects attributed to peptides and drugs like rapamycin. He claims fasting-induced low-grade ketosis promotes removal of senescent ("zombie") cells and shifts metabolism toward more efficient energy use.

How is fasting the new superfood? So I did some training a couple years ago about getting certified with peptides which are all the rage right now. And one of the things that's interesting is when you do things like peptides or you do a lot of these new fancy supplements or certain medications like rapamycin which a lot of biohackers are doing, they make your body make these certain anti inflammatory molecules as well as these certain anti aging molecules. The interesting thing is there's two things that naturally do the exact same thing. Of all these fancy things that's fasting and high intensity energy training. High intensity training fasting is interesting because actually when you fast and go into low grade ketosis all the dysfunctional cells called senescent cells or zombie cells in your body actually get pushed to get turned over and either replaced, broken down and turned into spare parts or absolutely destroyed. Fasting when you go towards ketosis actually does this. Also your body learns how to use energy more efficiently and go from a sugar based metabolism to glycogen to ultimately.
