Back in 1998, when I was doing my pediatric rounds at the Medical College of Virginia, we already knew back then that red dye caused a lot of brain inflammation in kids, particularly kids with adhd. So I was told, hey, don't have parents give kids red dyes, which is usually in cough syrup or anything like that, because it can actually make the kids neural inflamed. Why did it take this long to figure out that red number three, which is a petroleum distillate? Okay, so the dye actually is a petroleum, comes from oral. Why did it take us 26 years to figure out that that might be related to cancer? I'm glad the FDA finally came out and said we should ban this. It's going to be till 2027 until it's actually removed from our food. But the bigger question is, are we really waiting for the government to tell us this information? Is our country at large waiting 20, 30, sometimes 50 years in the case of smoking to find out that it's bad for us? We try to put a lot of great information out there. Red dots, petroleum distillates, artificial sweeteners, colors, these are all bad for us. I'm glad the government finally came around, but it's about 20 to 30 years too late.
