Aaron Hartman, MD explains how chronic high cortisol damages the brain, especially when DHEA is low. He recommends phospholipids, fish oil, curcumin, and other supplements to protect brain function, following the Bredesen protocol for cognitive decline.

Cortisol, although life saving and necessary, is toxic to the brain in excess. And if this person's cortisol is super duper high and their counterbalanced DHEA is depleted, they're just pummeling their brain with excess cortisol until the body figures it out and shuts it down. And then they have just enough to stay alive, but not enough to really be functional in that way. So phospholipids are huge anti inflammatories that are natural in nature, like fish oil, SPMs, curcumin. I love BPC for brain health. You used to be able to get it nasally. Think you you might still be able to at certain places, but you can take it orally. I like Synapsin for brain health. I mean, there's lots of cool things that you can do depending on what you want to do, but the goal being that is this inflammatory, is this autoimmune, is this nutritional. And by doing that, you're essentially doing the Bredesen protocol that you alluded to looking at through maybe a broader lens of all the different subtypes of cognitive decline. But that's kind of how I approach it.
