Today's superfood is chocolate. Chocolate has been around for millennia. First discovered new world. It was initially just a food that only the highest elite had access to. But with the west coming over, spreading around the world, chocolate's become available to everybody. But is it really a superfood? Chocolate has a lot of great things in it, like theobromine, which actually is known to treat depression. It's actually associated with a low risk for heart disease and cancer. It's got a lot of healthy alkaloids, which are these phytoc chemicals, and they're good for you. Yet most chocolate consumption in the United States is milk chocolate, which is alkalinized. They have small amounts of aluminum in it. When you make milk chocolate, you actually remove these healthy chemicals like theobromine and these phytochemicals that are good for your health. So chocolate is another one of those superfoods where if you get mostly dark chocolate, probably like 75% or more the right way than superfood. But if you get milk chocolate, which is what most Americans consume, that's actually not good for your health. It actually causes a whole lot of health issues.
