Aaron Hartman, MD argues that waiting for disease symptoms before screening is backwards. Sleep apnea kills people silently, and screening catches it before it damages your heart and brain. Prevention beats treatment every time.
You shouldn't have to wait for evidence of disease to screen. The whole point of screening is prevention. Like, it's just, it's moronic. I don't know how else to say it.
It's the standard of care.
There you go. That's the nice way.
Of saying standard of care. Yeah. Yeah. But a couple of thoughts about sleep and sleep apnea. Sleep apnea also tells us all the things that poor sleep can be associated with. We know sleep apnea is associated with the sudden death syndrome. Yeah. If I hear about a middle aged male who falls over suddenly dies and you kind of look at things afterwards, it's typically had sleep apnea that was undiagnosed.
