Dr. Aaron Hartman compares healing to Frodo's journey in Lord of the Rings: you carry the burden yourself, but you need a fellowship around you. Find guides and supporters who won't give up on you, not saviors who'll fix it for you.

Your healing journey needs a guide, not a savior. I like to think about Frodo in the Lord of the Rings. He was the one who had the responsibility. He had the Ring of Power but he had a team around him. He had a Legolas, he had, he had Gandalf, he had a whole host of kind of a motley crew around him. Even his Samwise, the guy that actually held him up at the end. And you need that similar group of people around you, that group that actually can help you, guide you, support you. But ultimately you're the one who has to actually do things. You're the one who has to hold that ring and get it to the point. So look for that group around you, supporters, people who will never give up on you, people who believe in you and trust in you. And we have a whole bunch, bunch of resources on the website that can help you figure out how to create this for yourself.
