Adam Zimmerman warns against packing your house before deciding what to keep. Once items go into storage boxes, you can't see them to evaluate what you actually need, and you'll waste time digging through boxes years later looking for things you forgot you owned.
And they do the same thing with houses. They want to put the house on the market, they throw everything in storage, they put it away, they forget about it for 10 years, and they realize that, first of all, I don't even like going to storage units because I don't want to dive in there, spend hours looking through this stuff. The best time for me and the best time for you to look at your own stuff is at the house itself, displayed the way mom and grandma displayed it.
