Short tutorial video (YouTube) by Alberto Costa demonstrating how to use investors.com (Investor's Business Daily) to check stock information. Using Apple as an example, the presenters highlight two free, central metrics to inspect: the stock's group leadership ranking and the industry group rank (e.g., 88 out of 197 industries). They note some fields on IBD are paywalled and suggest combining IBD with other free tools (Finviz, Zacks) to form a broader view.

Hi, welcome to this new video.
Today I want to show you another.
Very useful website that is called investors.com.
Okay.
This is the interface. What we do, we write the stock.
Name or ticker here. Let's take for example Apple. Okay.
And then we click here.
Yeah, and then we get this page.
Okay.
So here you can see a lot of information.
You can see a chart, the price.
The volume and below.
Some fundamentals information.
Okay.
What we should focus on here is two things. The first one is this group leadership.
Basically this is a number telling us the ranking of the stock in this group.
So if we want to go long, probably we want to have the best.
Performing stock, the group. Right. Again, if we are investing.
So you may look at the top three, top five.
For example, here we see that in.
Each group Apple is ranked number one.
And the other thing that we can.
Check is this, the industry group rank. So within the list of industries, what.
Is the rank of the industry of Apple? Okay.
And in this case is 88.
Now for investors.com the total number of industry is 197.
Okay.
So you have to remember that this.
Is the rank like 88 over 197.
There are other information here.
For example, usually I don't look at.
Those and some of them you see.
The question mark because you can only.
See if you pay.
But again we want to find free information.
Right?
And the most important in my opinion is the ranking of the stock and the ranking of the industry.
Okay.
If you remember my video on finviz.com we can also find information on the industry there.
Right?
And also on the sector here we don't find the ranking of the sector. And if you watch my video on zaks.com there we can find both industries, industry and sector. So in a way we can use finviz, Zucks and IBD to get different opinion. It's like getting different reports from different analysts.
Right.
And then we can have a better.
Overview of the quality of the stock.
If we look at all of them.
So maybe in another video I will.
Show you a very easy way to combine all this information using Excel to get a number telling us if the stock is good or bad.
But for now.
Coming back to investors.
You only have to look at these two things. So the group leadership and industry group.
Right.
Okay, so that's all for this video.
