Chapters
The hottest SEO news, resources, insights from the last week. Let's go through the most popular from the latest SEO FOMO, your SEO FOMO too long, didn't read. The first one is this very insightful video from Martin Splitt. It's a lightning talk going through the different type of rendering configurations with JavaScript. I highly, highly recommend you to watch this, even if you're not into technical SEO, because it allows you to understand and acknowledge the different type of approaches that allow you to have an overview of how they work, the pros and cons, and have a better understanding about their impact into your SEO process. I'm actually very, very happy to see that it has been the most clicked so far this week. At this point, JavaScript optimization for crawlability and indexability should have been already solved, but somehow because of the popularization of JavaScript frameworks that accelerate the web development process hasn't helped. Necessarily towards this, but thankfully we have many more resources about them. The next most popular resource from this week is the Pareto Principle of SEO written by Pat Ahern. Thank you for writing and putting this together because it pretty much applies the Pareto Principle to SEO, which is 20% of your implementations are going to drive the 80% of the impact. So it is fundamental to prioritize what actually matters. And he goes through how many times he has asked SEO specialists to do an assessment of websites and they recommend to fix everything. When we know how in real life this is rather unlikely to happen because of limited resources, limited time, etc., and how realistically most of the things that could be improved are not necessarily going to be impactful towards what actually matters to that particular site in their own particular context and goals. And that is why it is fundamental to apply prioritization principles in SEO. And he goes through how he does it following the Pareto principle when going through an SEO analysis and audit. If you're just starting in SEO, I have to say, these are one of the must-read resources along with all the type of guides that give you insights, criteria, and principles to prioritize your work. In fact, if you're subscribed to SEO FOMO, you have access to a resource that can highly, highly help you to do this, which is the SEO recommendations prioritization templates in Google Sheets that is included as part of the SEO FOMO SEO auditing bundle, along with many other resources. And this will allow you to prioritize every single SEO recommendations based on impact and effort and give you a very easy, straightforward way to calculate it. So There's another reason to subscribe to SEO FOMO. And before going to the next top resource this week, I want to thank Similarweb. Similarweb, in case you don't know it yet, is a digital intelligence platform that gives you insights into competitors, market industries, and audiences. If you follow me on social, you probably see that I share insights many, many times using Similarweb data. It's so very helpful. So go and take a look at it. Head to similarweb.com. And give it a try. The other most popular resource this week is this very useful combo of guide plus tool from Nick Leroy about 9 reasons you're failing your SEO job interviews and how to fix them. So I love this because Nick doesn't only give you the most common reasons of why SEO professionals end up failing at interviews, but it also provides actionable recommendations of what you can do about them. And besides the article, Nick has also created an SEO interview simulator where you can select among different types of roles and you can practice for your SEO interviews. Finally, the last most popular resource is this new learningseo.io section going through Reddit for SEO guidelines and tips. We have seen a lot of these tips about, oh, now you need to get on Reddit because Google is giving it so much visibility in SERPs. So this is a great way to maximize your visibility. I have to say that I will recommend you to get into Reddit, not necessarily just as a purely SEO tactic, but more as part of your community or social media strategy, just like what you do already with YouTube or Instagram or LinkedIn, for example. The extra visibility in the SERPs will be then a byproduct of all of this engagement that is driven by a real community social media strategy behind that you should align your optimization efforts with. In fact, even if we know that Google has been giving more and more visibility to Reddit in the last few years, especially in the last year, and here's the data from SimilarWeb of how it has been improving, the reality is that it started to drop since the beginning of the year. What this should mean? Should you then just stop engaging in Reddit in case you started in December? You shouldn't. There should be many more reasons for you to engage in Reddit. What is important is to go through a few questions, marketing questions about your audience there, the goals that you will have, the type of conversations in there. At the end of the day, this might be worthy or not, depending on your own context and beyond the fact that who might or might not give more or less visibility to Reddit. I have put together this new section of learningseo.io with reliable resources to help you to do that in a good way, responsible way. And these have been this week's latest hottest in SEO stories. If you want to learn more in real time, go and take a look at the SEO Fumo News. Submit your latest resources, your latest news, your latest questions too, to get answers right away.
