Here are the top trending SEO stories from the latest edition of the SEO FOMO newsletter in case you haven't had the chance to go through it. Today's SEO FOMO to Learn Do You Read is sponsored by Similarweb, the digital intelligence platform that gives you insights into competitors, markets, industries, and audiences. Thank you for your sponsorship. Now let's go through the stories. The first one is the insightful article by Adam Riemer about SEO A/B testing ideas to improve search performance. This is an article that he has written contributing to the Advanced Web Ranking blog, going through different ideas and scenarios that he highly advises you to test by doing SEO A/B tests that will allow you to answer some of the key questions about the effectiveness of your SEO efforts and implementations, like does content impact category pages? Going through the process of identifying the pages to test, creating the control and test groups, tracking the key metrics, and so on, he goes through a number of ideas. For you to test, reducing internal and footer links, optimizing indexable content, schema and rich result testing, content formatting and length. I love this especially because SEO tests allow us to validate that SEO best practices are actually impactful in our own specific scenarios. It's also so much more straightforward nowadays to develop these tests thanks to tools like seotesting.com that I use myself and have in the past actually been SEO from sponsors, although this is a completely spontaneous mention and I will highly, highly recommend you to give it a go for free. They have a free trial. You can integrate it with your own Google Search Console data to start developing SEO tests right away. The second most popular resource was Dan Petrovic's AIRank free tool. Last week there was a boom of new AIRank trackers, tools that allow you to monitor your website visibility in LLMs' answers at a daily basis while showing you which are the other competitors that you are going against. In the case of the Dan Petrovic tool, it also gives you the brand entity association featuring the entities that AI associates your brand with. It allows you to also specify up to 10 queries to track your visibility in both GPT as well as Gemini. There was another similar tool that I also featured last week that got a lot of engagement through my social media too, which is RankScale. This other tool also allows you to run an audit of your websites and track your brand visibility performance across many other LLMs. The 3rd most popular resource was Jo Hocking's coverage about a new Google Local update that she called the diversity update and how you can fix if it has ruined your rankings. She pretty much showcases how in the last 3 months she has identified this new Google Local update has negatively impacted websites that are prominently displayed and dominating the Google Local Pack rankings because Google will now demote your organic rankings for the same page. She also goes through how to fix this, and she mentioned how she used to advise linking your Google Business Profile to the page that ranks strongest organically for your main keywords, and that is no longer true because of this update. If you do local SEO, this is a must-read article that you should definitely start taking into account, validating your current results and see if this is already impacting your local rankings visibility. The last but not least top article this week is the How to Analyze a Sudden Drop in Website Traffic with a Template by Despina Gavoyannis. Despina goes through the main criteria that you should validate to identify the cause of an organic search traffic drop while also featuring very useful templates that you can use to do this validation, like checking for any Google algorithm updates, Check for any technical bugs, errors, or changes on your site, design changes, content-related traffic drops, if there have been sudden changes in your competitors and they are now being shown for your previously top-ranked queries, and many more. It's a very hands-on, step-by-step article that you should definitely read, and I will also start linking from the learningseo.io sections that feature different resources, handy resources to use when analyzing organic search traffic drops. So go and check it out. I want to thank again Similarweb that has been today's edition sponsor. If you haven't checked Similarweb, go and take a look because it doesn't only provide you a wealth of features to do keyword research, rank tracking, competition analysis, but have also now a site audit and backlink analytics, which are pretty useful and you should definitely try out.
