You are now watching The Biz to Biz Podcast with Allan and Justin! Yo, what's up everybody? It's Justin live from B2B Vault—The Biz to Biz podcast sponsored by Nationwide Payment Systems hosted by this guy—the Robert Patterson of payment processing himself,Allen Kopelman!
Holy guacamole—that was a lot of P! I know man... No no no Batman pow! How you doing, bro? I'm doing good. So it's Thanksgiving's coming up. We're gonna have some Thanksgiving foods, some feeds, and we're gonna have some— so, you know, Thanksgiving weekend is always like a big sporting week.
By the time this pod comes out, it'll be over. You'll see this on Wednesday— on Friday, rather.
But on Friday, right? But the game— oh yeah, the game will already have happened on Thursday. The big game, Miami Dolphins, 8 PM versus the Green Bay Packers.
Pack the Miami Dolphins in aluminum cans, Packers.
Okay, the Dolphins are gonna— Tua eyes, man, y'all about to freeze.
Y'all gonna be like, you're gonna, you know, like your fish when it hits cold water, it just freezes up.
I don't know about that. Tua's had some good games.
His coach said his plan was to throw ice cubes at the players all week. Really? What a jackass. No, I'm just kidding. I love that guy. What's his name?
Mike McDaniel.
Yeah, I really hope that, you know, he, he is successful.
Well, he better be bundled up on Sunday, man.
The last time he was out there, it didn't look so good. He looked cold, like cold cold. I mean, I'm from Wisconsin, um, I've, I've never been up north that far for a winter. Yeah, right. Wisconsin gets typically where the lake effect, so you get more snow than like just freezing cold type stuff. Okay. But you also get the lake effect when it's wind chill and it's very cold. But yeah, bro, they're talking about 20 degrees up there tomorrow night.
I mean, I've seen games before where they're like digging the snow out of the stands and— oh yeah, it's not supposed to snow.
And of course, like, Packer fans, you Yeah, you guys are shit out of luck.
Well, I'll tell you one thing, there's always 1 or 2 or 10 Packer fans with like no shirt on. 10?
Try 1,000. Okay, bro. And what— yo, man, that is the— so that's the one thing that— so like the stereotypical Wisconsinite, yeah, dude, in the middle of January, right? And I'm talking deadass freezing cold weather. Okay. They'll be outside with a t-shirt, cargo shorts, and, and, and flip-flops, bro. And I'm not bullshitting. That's crazy. Like, they, they do not— it— you ask them, it don't get cold until February. Okay. I mean, so it's like, man, and I am like— people would always be tripping out on me, right? Yeah. Because they're like, Jay, man, he's a white boy. Like, how come you cold? And I'm like, bruh, I don't know what you, you know, like I am not one of those guys. I'm not built like them.
You're not a polar bear.
No, I am not a polar bear. My family must've been like close, closer to the equator. Yeah.
You know what I mean? At some point.
At some point, because I, I never realized how much I hated the cold until I moved to Florida.
And now your blood's thinned out.
Oh, bruh, I was up there in the middle of winter. Couple years ago. You know, I vowed to never go back. I'm not going back in the middle of wintertime.
So, so here it is. If the Dolphins win, Justin's gotta have— gonna get to eat some gefilte fish. Gefilte fish. And if the Dolphins lose and Green Bay wins, Allen Kopelman's gotta do 20 push-ups in a row. I better pray.
You should go your ass home and do 5 Try 5 tomorrow.
I think I can do 20.
I don't believe you because I'm telling you, I do 4 sets of 25 every morning. Okay. Okay? Yeah. So 25, I could do more, but I stop at 25. So I don't know about that, buddy. You know, he's got that old man strength. Is a different, different strength though, because I just watched this video on Instagram. This young boy tried to test this old head. Yeah, and the old head knocked him clean out. Okay, I'm, I'm talking knocked him, knocked the socks off, bro. Feet, feet were dead in the air. So yeah, and then, and then I just don't believe it. So yeah, man, I'm gonna say the Packers are gonna win. The final score is gonna be, uh 27-19.
Well, I don't know what this— I say I don't know what the score is going to be. I say the Dolphins are going to win it in the fourth quarter. Okay, okay.
But definitely, and then the other— I might have to jump on PrizePicks to, uh, I haven't used it yet and I'm really interested in seeing because like you can just pick Like, say, you know, on prize picks you can go like Jordan Love is going to have less or more. Yeah, you can bet all kinds of stuff, but it's not like everyone else is like they got it really the structure of their platform. It's really interesting. That's all I want to— I want to play. Hard Rock Picks too.
They got all kinds of stuff you can bet. How many points this guy's going to score, yards. Everything. Yeah.
Hard Rock Cafe should sponsor our podcast. I don't know why they— that would be great.
They should sponsor the podcast. I don't know. Hard Rock, shout out.
Let us know. They're local? Yeah, they're local. Headhunter reached out to me.
They said that they're looking for the digital marketing guy.
Not bullshit.
Okay. But I don't want that job. Good to know.
Do not want that job.
And then the other game we got going on this weekend is every year Thanksgiving weekend, it's the Gators versus FSU Seminoles. And let's go Gators! Gators are looking good this season. Lagway, the quarterback, he's like the fresh— yeah, they beat like 2 ranked teams in the last 2 weeks.
Wisconsin men's basketball is looking good.
Basketball? Yeah, the Gators basketball is looking good, but I follow like women's Iowa Hawkeyes, you You know, the ex-Kaitlyn Clark team.
Oh, we know you follow the Iowa Hawkeyes, Allen.
They're 6-0 right now. It's like a fluke. Kaitlyn Clark, everybody, you know, they lost like 4 seniors.
Now they're 6-0. So, you know, I was hating on Kaitlyn Clark a lot. Yeah. And I don't, it's not like I didn't like her or anything. I just, I didn't like the hype that was being put around her. Okay. But after looking at her stats, she's actually a really good basketball player.
All right, awesome. High five. We got the Caitlin Clark basketball right here.
That's enough of the Caitlin Clark sausage content writing contest, bro.
Anyway, I mean, they put her on— she went to the— to an LPGA golf thing, right? They weren't even going to stream it. They had to stream it. Then so many people wanted to watch it, they had to put it on TV. Oh nice, that's cool.
And now she's playing in a few— yeah, speaking of sports anyway, streaming, have you seen all of the, uh, the boxers wanting to whoop Jake Paul's ass?
I'm sure that there's a lot of people that want to fight him now. It's—
they don't even want— they don't even want— they just want to fight him, right? Like they don't even— they don't care about the person, they just want to whoop his ass. Because they're— I get it too, because in a sense they're like, you got— they're kind of making— he's kind of making a mockery of boxing. But also, you got to give Jake some props, bro, because nobody was talking about boxing. No, nobody was. Dave Portnoy said Floyd Mayweather retired.
Yeah, nobody— who are you watching? Nobody. I mean, there's the—
what's the, the redheaded, uh, guy from Mexico?
That guy's a beast. Yeah, but I'm saying like, no box— there's been like no boxing promotion.
I don't know. You know what I'm talking about? Canelo. That guy's a monster.
He's, he's the shit. No, but there's been, been no like real boxing promotion. Everything's been like MMA.
I'm sure in Mexico it's huge and it's probably the— it's big. Totally different stage, but in America, bro, it's been all about MMA. It's all about UFC. Yeah. So how can you be shitting on Jake, like, on a business level, right? He's— he, he's everyone— like, he's a marketing genius in a sense. Like, that's what a lot of people call him. Yeah, Dave Portnoy said he's really figured it out, you know what I'm saying? And You know, at the end of the day, I agree that he has done a lot for boxing, and if people don't see that, they're tripping.
Dave Portnoy said him and his brother, they're master marketers.
You know who— remember I was shouting out Clarissa Shields, that female boxer? Yeah, from Detroit. She wants to fight that one Puerto Rican chick from, uh, that was on that, but she's in this— she's like a heavyweight boxer. She would whoop my ass. Clarissa Shields, like, she's got, she's got muscles.
I remember Muhammad Ali's daughter was boxing for a while. Yeah, she was too pretty. No, but I'm saying that was kind of like a thing, and then it's like everything faded out.
Yeah, she's seen her dad. Yeah, he's in his mind. I mean, I wouldn't do— I would, I would— my pops did not want me to follow in his footsteps with boxing at all. He, you know, he is like, I don't want you getting your brain bashed in every Saturday, you know what I'm saying?
Yeah. So I don't know, I get it. The fight, like the, the fight like Tyson and Jake Paul was kind of like that last movie with Rocky when he comes out of retirement old and he has— and he goes— Tommy Gunn. I don't know, he fought Tommy Gunn. Okay, I love Tommy. Is that the last movie? The last Rocky? No, no. The last one, he went to Vegas and then he had to fight a guy. He had to fight the guy who was like the champion.
In a new one? Yeah, there was a new one. I'm thinking of like Tyson. That the one I'm thinking of is when Tyson was old and Tommy Gunn was giving him shit and he ended up whooping his ass outside.
Remember?
I forget what they got. It wasn't a real like in the ring fight. Oh, they—
that was out in like the underneath the railroad tracks.
Yeah, tight. Uh, Rocky whooped his ass, threw a garbage can on top of him, all types of disrespected him, man. He got a New York ass whooping for real.
But yeah, man, go past. No, then they had the Creed movies, Creed 1, 2, and 3. He ain't fighting none of the movies. No, but he was in those movies. He didn't fight. I mean, that like the last one was like Rocky 7. The guy was a Tommy Gunn, man. No, it wasn't Tommy Gunn. He had a fight. He had a Rocky— that's, that's the one that they did the rematch with him in, right? That was the last one. He had a fight. That's the guy from Russia. Russia, yeah. He had to fight him, but there was another one. He had to fight another guy. Whatever, man, I forget the name. Whatever, that's enough of that. Okay, moving forward, it's kind of mirrored that.
Yeah, if you're talking about the Tommy Gunn one, because Rocky was old and Tommy was young.
No, there was another guy he had to fight. He had to fight this guy that was like the champion. That's Tommy Gunn, man.
We're sitting here wasting all this time talking about Rocky and Rocky versus Tommy Gunn.
No, there was a different Rocky movie. We're gonna go look it up.
It's this one, bro.
No, that's another one after that, and he had a fight.
I don't want to know. I don't care enough.
All right, straight up, he had to fight a different guy.
Sure, that's how every Brocky was. They had to fight a different guy. That's boxing. No.
He had to fight a different— he had to fight a different guy, the different Rocky movie. Okay, okay, we'll forget it. Yeah, yeah. All right, on to the next.
Yeah, man, so it's the holiday pod, got nothing.
What's your favorite Thanksgiving movie? Uh, Four Brothers. I like that one, that's a great movie. I don't know, it's a great—
it's a really good— Mark Wahlberg. Tyrese.
Mark Wahlberg is a real doucher though. What do you mean?
He's just a douchebag. He's turned into a doucher.
I don't think so. I think so.
He says a lot of reckless shit. He should watch his mouth.
Someone's gonna punch him in his mouth. I don't know, I think—
I don't— all that Southie Boston bullshit. Yeah, I don't care about that shit. I've met people from Boston and you ain't that tough. Whatever, whatever. Everybody has, you know, something to say.
Mark Wahlberg's in their mouth, bro.
Mark Wahlberg's made a lot of good movies.
One of one of my favorite TV shows of all time produced by Mark Wahlberg. 21 Jump Street? Entourage. 21 Jump Street? He wasn't in that. Which one was he in? Mark— no, Entourage. He wasn't in a TV show. You sure? Yeah, he's just only been in movies. I'm thinking his brother. Oh, his brother. His brother was in that cop movie.
That's what I'm— cop show.
That's what I was with Tom Selleck.
Yeah, that's the one I was thinking of. Boston.
In Boston, Tom Selleck is the police chief. Or maybe it's in New York.
Boston Blue or something. No, no, I don't know what's the TV anyway, man.
He's a cop. Yeah, FTP. And then, and then Tom Selleck is the dad. Everybody's— the whole family's in the police. Yep. And then he's in whatever singing— what's your favorite Thanksgiving movie? Hmm. My— what? Well, probably like Planes, Trains and Automobiles. That was pretty funny.
So I didn't— I had to Google that when you were talking about this, and I think I might have to watch that one again. And then there's— because that's actually— from what I remember as a kid, that was kind of funny even to me back then. But my dad took me to see— I don't know why I wanted to go see this. Yeah, but I always like, like cinema and film, like, so I, I love movies. Yeah, so I asked him to take me to Throw Mama from the Train because I thought it was gonna be like, I guess, more of a comedy. It was, it was, but that was a dark comedy. Yeah, it was some dark shit, right? And, uh, I remember my dad, and he's like, why do— why did you want You need to see this movie, son. And I didn't really have an answer, and I had like a sit-down and shit, like to make sure I was okay, everything's okay at home.
That was a crazy movie.
Was it Danny DeVito in that? Yeah, Danny DeVito, what's the guy from City Slickers with the curly hair?
I can't— I know who you're talking about. Billy Crystal.
Yep, him and Billy Crystal.
And then the mother was—
oh, that lady was scary. She was scary, bro. Her voice. I can't remember his name. Get that throat off. Something she would call him. But yeah, then she was in a scary movie, I believe, before that.
I believe around the same time she was in this scary movie where there was some king or some guy was tied to a bed.
No, that's not the same. That's not Misery. That's not the same lady. Oh, that's not the same. No, that movie— I remember my mom, she— my mom reads Stephen King books. Shout out to my mom. But so like, as a kid, yo, I would start to read one of them and I would be freaking out. I remember that book It. Yeah. Oh, I remember when that shit came out and that was terrifying.
I can't watch scary movies.
Totally terrifying. I forget like Anyway, I'm more of an Adam Sandler person when it comes to the movies.
So like, Adam Sandler had a Thanksgiving movie, Funny People. So he was this comedian—
whatever, we don't need to go into that.
Well, whatever. And then he gets invited to this Thanksgiving dinner, and then a whole bunch of stuff happens, and he hooks up with this girl, whatever.
It was crazy. I love how you— with Jonah Hill, you hop into the description of shit, right? Like No one's ever watched it. I know I haven't, so you feel like obligated to tell me about it. It's a funny movie.
But I think I have one of the first—
one of the first— Wilson in it?
No, Jonah Hill. Same guy. And then there's a bunch— it's not the same Jonah Hill. Owen Wilson. That's like saying Owen Wilson, and he's got his brother Luke Wilson.
Do you remember when Owen Wilson was in that pilot movie when it like landed in Russia?
Oh, the pilot movie. It's great. I think I've seen that.
And he had to like recover the black box and he was on the run from the Russian military.
Oh no, he got shot down like over Kosovo or something. Yeah, with Gene Hackman.
Yeah, that's a great movie.
Gene Hackman. And then he runs and he dives off the cliff.
Yeah, and he catches the helicopter.
Well, you don't think of him as an action star.
No, that's why I brought it up, because it's like, why is Owen Wilson in this movie? Why is Will Smith not doing any shit, right? Or whoever.
It's like, yeah, let's just have Owen Wilson.
Oh, we'll see if it's the part. It's perfect because he has to make a couple of jokes at the beginning of the damn movie.
Oh yeah, he's making all kinds of jokes.
He was making jokes to the whole movie, right? But yeah, no, that— I, I actually love. But shout out to Gene Hackman because my favorite Gene Hackman movie is—
and then he decides— Heist. Yeah. Then he decides not— great movie. Then he decides not to resign from the military. One thing I will say, Owen Wilson is in the one of— in this movie. I— now I'm not gonna remember the name of it, but he, he's like messed up and he has to go stay at his friend's house and his friend is married. Yeah. And then he destroys their bathroom. Yeah, I remember that movie.
Funny ass movie too. Owen Wilson is a good, good, I guess he's definitely a good, good laugh. Yeah, if you want to watch some this Thanksgiving, give, uh, give that a, give that a watch. I can't remember the name. Four Brothers is a little bit more serious, but it's still a good movie.
It's still great. The ending, the ending is crazy. Great ending, great ending.
But, uh, yeah, so I know it's Thanksgiving, so, you know, if you want to give thanks, I'll start. You know, I want to, uh Give thanks to my, uh, my famalam out there back home in Milwaukee for, uh, just being patient with us. And you know what I mean? Understanding that we can't be in two places at the same time. Um, we miss, definitely I miss having like a big family function. Um, one of the last Thanksgivings we had before we moved down here, bro, we must have had almost 100 people at our house.
Wow. That's bad.
We cooked 2 turkeys, ribs. I mean, I just was cooking for days, bro. Like, I mean, days before Thanksgiving because, you know, we, we knew we were moving. So we invited a bunch of people and yeah, but you know what I mean? Like we get older, you know, you get older and stuff slows down a little bit and, you know, families thin out because they got their own families. So I think the kids, uh, you know, they're— I'm grateful that they're as patient as they are with us. Cause you know, of course we'd love to fly up there and spend time with y'all, but logistically, and everyone has their own lives and you know what I'm saying? But definitely thankful for my fam. Thankful for Nationwide Payment Systems. Thankful for Allen. Shout out to everyone in the office, Sean, Samantha, Tamar. Shout out to Dave. What about Rocky? Shout out to Rocky. Even, even, man, he's past that right now. Yeah, he's been a good dog today. Must have gave him some dope.
Doggy dope. No, didn't give him any doggy dope.
Anyway, yeah, uh, so yeah, man, uh, life is good, man. You know, it's been another—
2024 is been pretty trifling, but, uh, you know, let's hope for a better 2025. So I'm thankful for my family. It's like crazy. My mom's 89 come March, she'll be 90. Wow. Nuts. You know, we used to have huge Thanksgivings. I used to have, when I had my restaurant and, or when I was, my kids were little, we would have 20, 30, 40 people at the house cooking, you know, hasn't been like that for a really long time. My mom doesn't want to deal with it. Well, she doesn't want to deal with it.
Well, yeah. So yeah, I was literally, I don't mean to cut you off, but like before I was talking to my mom and, uh, my daughter's up there in Milwaukee and she was trying to convince my mom to have some people over. Yeah. And you know, my mom is just, you know, she don't want to deal with all that shit, right?
My mom doesn't want to deal with— wants to have 20 people.
Like, even if it— I'm exaggerating—
even if it's only 5 or 6 people, and I think last year—
and you're not used to having anybody there— that's a lot of people, right?
Last year we had it at my mom's house, and I told my brother we should have every— get like plastic, nice plastic plates and everything, and Instead, they wanted to use my mom's china and everything. And then my mom stood in the kitchen and she hand washed every dish herself and every glass and wouldn't let anybody touch her china, right? It was crazy. I believe it. And that was, that was kind of fun. My brother was here with 3 of his kids and— or 2, 2 or 3 kids and his wife. So that was kind of enjoyable. But that's the only time when my brother comes to town, my mom will do a holiday If they don't come, she won't do a holiday. She's like, no, I don't feel like it. I'm like, okay. And, you know, but, you know, we used to have a lot of fun on the holidays, cook, you know, everybody always cook because I was a chef, so I have to cook. Everybody expects something spectacular. Last year I brined the turkey and I don't know if I'm going to do that this year. And then one thing, one thing I want to say, so, you know, last year ended on like a really wacky note for me, you know, you know what I mean? And, you know, we lost somebody that worked in the office right, right at the end of the year, few days right before New Year's. And that was pretty— that was a pretty crazy time to to deal with that. And, you know, happened right out of the blue. So anything can happen like that, you know. And, you know, so you just have to be thankful for everything you have, for your life, for your family, for your kids.
Yeah, I never— yeah, man, that really— I didn't forget about it, but I didn't really realize how hard you were taking that shit until like a couple weeks in. I was like, damn. But so I'm sorry about that, sir.
That's okay.
I just know that it was, that was a very unexpected thing.
And yeah, well, I mean, when you have somebody that's like super like kind of close to your age, No, mortality is real. And then something like, it was just weird. That's all. I mean, she didn't have any—
no, yeah, no, she had a lot going on.
Well, we don't know, we don't know everything, but you know, health-wise she had a lot.
Yeah, we do know that. We do know that. So, but I'm just saying, she's a good person and, you know, definitely missed in the office, but we never seen eye to eye, but I don't care. It was like, it's like, it's like one of your aunties at the, at the You know, in the fam, you just, uh, here comes this lady. Oh shit. You know, like, you know, you're just always going to get in trouble with shit. That's how I always felt like I was about to get in trouble.
Anna will tell you how it was no matter what. She would tell you what she thought. She didn't give a crap about it.
And that's what I liked. I liked her.
I loved her for that. No nonsense. Yeah. She, she, she know that.
Yeah, I respected her for that. I told her that many times.
She was a no-nonsense, no bullshit. Yeah, no nonsense, no BS. You know, she was tough on the phone. Never, I'll never, you know, she was tough when she would call people on the phone. She was, you know, fine. All right, man, whatever.
It's okay. I know. Well, anything else you want to be thankful for?
Thankful I have Rocky, even though like That wasn't like my plan to get a dog. Got him for Jacob. Had that dog for 3 years, bro. Huh?
You've had that dog since I worked here.
Yeah, I know, but I've had him for 10 years. Okay, right. But I'm just saying, I got him.
I'm still thankful for that.
Yeah, I got him for Jake. Okay. One thing is he wakes me up every morning and we go for a walk every single morning unless it's like totally freezing, then he's like, forget it, or raining. And then he's sad because he really loves that walk and he can go like 2 or 3 miles. And then, you know, because he's 10 now and, you know, he keeps me in line. He's, you know, he likes his car ride. He likes going to the dog park. He likes, you know, his walk and all that. Yeah. And he likes barking when we get a delivery. He likes barking nonstop. And he likes to, you know, occasionally you hear a bark in the podcast.
Right. So yeah, man, I don't know. I ain't got much else. I mean, I'm, I'm thankful for life. I'm thankful for my wife. I'm thankful for my children. I'm thankful for my dad. Thankful for my mom. I love my family. Yeah, I really, really do love them. It's important.
Family's important.
You know, shout out to my children, man. I love y'all. I hope to see you guys soon. You need to bring your ass down here cuz I ain't going up there.
Peace. And you know, 2025 is coming up and if you have a small business, one tip, you know, now's a great time to make your plan for the 2025. Start thinking about it. And, you know, and because, you know, if you write it down, you'll make it happen. That's it, everybody. Have a great Thanksgiving. Enjoy your food. Maybe we'll make some food pics.
Go Packers! Go Dolphins! I can't wait. 27-19.
I can't wait to watch Jacob— Justin eat some gefilte fish. So go Dolphins.
So I just don't want you to have a stroke when you're doing these push-ups. So there's gonna— if your face gets too red, we're calling it.
You're gonna show it during the podcast? There's no— you have to.
I mean, yeah, if there's no pictures or video, that shit didn't happen.
I get it. Well, we'll film it during the show.
If I gotta eat gefilte fish on camera, you're gonna bust Bust out those 20.
Well, Tua, you better get ready, Tua.
I'll even do you a solid. I'll do them with you. See, so we can be doing real push-ups because I'm not talking halfies. I'm talking push-ups like a man. Like a man. Like a man. Sean, you can do 20 push-ups, right? Yeah.
Okay. All right. Okay. I can't wait for Justin to have gefilte fish. Go Dolphins. Tua, let's go, Tua.
Happy Thanksgiving Day.
Better break out Larry Zonka and bring him out.
Yeah, you're gonna need all the Holy Ghosts you can.
Maybe they'll conjure them. Conjure the $72.
They ain't gonna want to be in that damn cold either. They're all chilling down here.
Larry Zonka lives in Alaska. Oh, that's right. I bet he's still tough.
He's a tough old man.
Happy Thanksgiving! Peace out! Carpe diem!
