Angela Caglia (facialist) presents a short YouTube video giving one central anti-aging tip: do not wash your face in the morning, especially if you're over 30. She explains that overnight skin regeneration leaves the skin balanced and retaining natural lipids, and that morning washing or splashing water can disrupt pH and strip these lipids. Her recommended morning sequence is: apply a souffle moisturizer, then a daily botanical serum, then sunscreen, and finally makeup if desired. The advice is positioned as a free, counterintuitive hack based on her 28 years as a facialist.

Okay, so here's a quick hack to looking younger and it's not going to cost you a thing. And it's going to sound kind of counterintuitive because I am a facialist and I've been one for 28 years and I actually wash faces for a living, which is kind of a weird way to say it, but it's true. I don't want you to wash your skin in the morning. That's what I'm going to tell you. Don't wash your face in the morning, especially if you're over 30, because when you're sleeping, your skin is regenerating. It's your largest organ, just like the rest of your organs. And you've done a thorough cleanse at night. And when you wake up, your skin is in perfect, perfect condition because it's regenerated all night. It's in perfect balance. So you weren't out in the elements, you weren't wearing sunscreen, you weren't wearing makeup. You were in your temperature controlled room with clean skin, sleeping while your skin's regenerating. When you wake up, you don't even need to splash water because that too can change the PH of your skin. What I want you to do is go right into your souffle moisturizer and then add your daily botanical serum on top, go into your sunscreen and then apply your makeup, if you wear makeup at all. Because I'm telling you, once you stop washing your face in the morning, you're going to see such a difference in your skin, it's going to be even toned and you're going to look more youthful because you're keeping your natural lipids, which is what you need.
