A short daily video by Anthony Onesto (recorded/referenced Jan 9–10, 2017) where he reflects on augmented reality’s potential for workplace collaboration. Inspired by a train ride from New York to Richmond (SmartUp’s planned hub), he argues AR—via goggles like Microsoft HoloLens—could enable remote employees to enter virtual offices, join live calls, view Office365 documents (e.g., PowerPoint), and generally replace aspects of a physical HQ for dispersed teams. He urges viewers to research AR for workforce use.

Hey, everyone, it's Anthony Honesto and this is my daily burst of knowledge for Monday, January 9th. I took a train trip today from New York to Richmond, Virginia, which is where SmartUp is going to build our hub. And during the ride, obviously I was using my laptop and my iPhone a lot, but I thought about the opportunity for augmented reality, right? The ability to throw on a pair of goggles, whether it's, you know, the HoloLens through Microsoft or some other technology and, and basically be placed into a virtual office, right? It's, you know, we talk a lot about the death of the HQ for some companies, dispersed workforces. I think augmented reality, more so than virtual reality, is going to be huge in the workplace. I think having, you know, being able to be on a train or in a Starbucks, really anywhere, and throw on a pair of goggles and essentially be able to tap one of your associates to see if they're live and maybe it's a Skype call, or to be able to do some Office365 productivity type of work, look at PowerPoint presentations, have meetings, whatever it is. So that's my daily burst for today. Think about augmented reality and the power it can have for your workforce and start researching and looking into it. That's my daily burst for today. We'll see you tomorrow.
