A short YouTube micro-episode (Daily Burst of Knowledge) in which Anthony Onesto introduces and advocates for "ubiquitous learning": learning materials accessible anytime/anywhere (e.g., on smartphones between meetings) rather than tied to desk-based LMS web modules. He contrasts traditional in-person and legacy LMS approaches with brief, entertaining mobile modules that include interactive elements and user-shared content, and explains why this matters for organizational learning and development.

Hey, everyone, it's Anthony Honesto. And this is my daily burst of knowledge for today. Wednesday, January 25th. And I heard really interesting phrase today called ubiquitous learning. And you know, when we think about the natural history of learning, you know, years ago it started out as in person sessions, and then, you know, recently it's all about the E learning modules. But what we're finding is those modules, particularly on some of the legacy and even newer LMS systems, still sit in this web format. So you're tied to your desk, or even some of them sit behind a firewall and a vpn. So you even have to be at your desk to be able to access knowledge. And the idea is with ubiquitous knowledge and learning is the ability to get it at any point when you need it, right? So if you're in between meetings and let's say you're going into a client or a sales meeting and you want to brush up on sales, or you want to brush up on certain skill set, you know, be able to pull out your smartphone and go through a module that's six to seven minutes, that's entertaining. That maybe has some quizzes and polls where not just the L and D department within the company, but other folks within the company have posted to and shared their knowledge in an entertaining way, is really, really powerful for learning 2.0. So this movement of ubiquitous learning and knowledge, very important piece when we think about learning development within organizations now and into the future. So that's my burst of knowledge for today. We'll see you guys tomorrow.
