A short daily vlog by Anthony Onesto (Jan 16), recorded for Martin Luther King Jr. Day. He argues that modern technology (cloud servers, coding skills) has lowered barriers to starting internet businesses—democratizing opportunity beyond the wealthy—and urges viewers to mentor and share specialist skills (e.g., HR/recruiting) with local communities.

Hey, everyone, it's Anthony Ernesto. And this is my daily burst of knowledge for January 16th. Today is Martin Luther King Jr. Day. So today I want to talk about the democratization of opportunity and how right now it is such an incredible time and incredible opportunity that anyone who has the knowledge of coding, some knowledge of opening a business, and an opportunity to spin up an AWS or a Google server really as an opportunity to create a business. When you think about Uber, Airbnb, the opportunity to create. Now, it's a competitive market space, and if you build crappy products, obviously the market will let you know. But in order to get into that market, in order to compete in that market, the barrier of getting in there has never been lower. And so for me, there's an incredible democratization of opportunity that takes it away from the rich or the gifted and really brings it down to all sorts of levels and giving people opportunity anywhere in the globe to create an Internet technology company that can exponentially grow. So when you think about these, think about the opportunity that you can give, the knowledge, the mentoring that you can give to local organizations, folks in your own neighborhoods where you can impart with them wisdom around entrepreneurship, in my case, HR and recruiting. Anything that you're a specialist in, give back to your community. Think about how you're going to do that. That's my daily burst for today, and we'll see you tomorrow. Have a great holiday.
