Short YouTube video (daily burst) in which Anthony Onesto advises that recruiting should be a value exchange: deliver tangible value to candidates/audiences to create memorable brand connections. He illustrates with his work at Razorfish creating the 'Ella the Engineer' comic to promote women in tech and drive recruiting interest, and ends with a call-to-action to email him for more ideas.

Hey, everyone, it's Anthony Honesto, and this is my daily burst of knowledge for today. Friday TGI Friday, January 20th. First off, we have a new president, President Trump. Whether you voted for him or not, it's a reality of the situation. But that's not what I'm talking about today. There was a question that was posed on one of the groups or communities I'm on within Facebook, and the question was about, at an event, what kind of recruiting should be done. They talked about maybe doing some sort of food truck and should they give out pamphlets, things like that. And I always find those things interesting because unless you're creating value for the candidate or there's some sort of exchange of value, they likely won't remember you, even if you have a DJ or a truck, because it seems like everyone's doing that now. You know, everyone has either some sort of a marketing catch. So I think, you know, when, if you really want to engage a community of folks, if you really want folks to remember your organization, do something of value. When I was at Razorfish, we wanted to promote more women in tech. So we created a comic book called Ella the Engineer, which I'm now proud of being the creator and founder of. And, and, and that was an exchange of value, right? So we would go to events and we would go to recruiting, recruiting opportunities, and we'd hand the comic book and say, look, this is. Give this to your kid or nephew, whatever it was. And we're now creating a value exchange between the company and the individual. And that created a memory, that created a bond to the brand that hopefully led to recruiting and folks wanting to come to work at Razorfish. So at the end of the day, when you think about recruiting, think about the opportunity to exchange value of some sort of. And if you have any questions on this, I have a really interesting idea. Email me@aonestomail.com I'd love to share it with you. That's my daily burst of knowledge for today. We'll see you on Monday. Have a great weekend.
