This is a YouTube video titled "The True Meaning of Winning in Life" (content dated June 5, 2025) containing a conversational interview/discussion featuring Antonio Matta and another participant (labeled SPEAKER B). The excerpt covers personal experiences with addiction—specifically problematic porn use—how friends, partners, family and therapists responded (judgment, confusion, lack of recognition), the role of online support, and analogies comparing porn use to smoking and its effects on dopamine and sexual health. The tone frames recovery as choosing peace and a happy life rather than fighting a war.
No matter what, no matter how hard things are, you're gonna have to give all your strength, overcome that urge, and that is all you have to do. And that's winning, if you want to call it a war. It's best to look beyond it. You're really just choosing a happy life. There's no war in that. You're looking for peace. Thank you for asking.
How did people in your life, friends, partners, or family, respond when you opened up about your addiction? Were you believed, judged, supported?
I said a bit of this in my previous one, so I'll just say shortly here. Mostly judged, just more people confused. People didn't recognize the issue for what it was or how bad it was. The main people I could find were online who really recognized it. Everyone else, even therapists I went to, were curious. What is his problem? Maybe it's something else. And they didn't really see porn use in and of itself as being harmful. It must be something else. And to this day, I know that both are true, that porn use is like smoking a cigarette. It does have consequences. To use this analogy, safe and have been used by indigenous in a healthy way. However, they do have minor consequences, even when used safely, that can be negative, especially in the context of cigarettes. There's a bunch of other toxins that make it really bad. And so there's sexual things you can do, some more safe than others. It's minor consequences, like even having sex will have a negative impact to a degree on your biology, but in the context of good loving supportive sex, that negativity can be minor, but it does deplete your dopamine system no matter how you frame it.
