Dr. Aravind Padmaraju explains three breathing mistakes: mouth breathing bypasses nasal filtration, shallow breaths miss the benefits of slow, deep cycles lasting 10-20 seconds. Slower breathing activates your parasympathetic nervous system for better health and energy.

I also wanted to tell you 2 more additional mistakes which you are doing, which I want you to avoid. The first thing is always take a breath from your nose, not from your mouth, because your nostril has some kind of filters. You see hair and all, it is actually filtering all the dust from the air what you're breathing, and also it is taking into your body. The second important thing is don't breathe in from your mouth because that filtration is not happening when you breathing in. Another important mistake which normally we do is we do a fast breathing. Do a slow breathing. Slow breathing means take at least every single, every single complete breath at least 10 to 20 seconds. When you say take deep breath in and breathe out, so the slower you breathe, that better your overall parasympathetic and your nervous system and your mind and body connection will be better.
