Breathing Wrong I Most people breathe incorrectly| How to fix it

Arvind Padmaraju explains why most people breathe wrong: they use shallow chest breathing instead of engaging the diaphragm. A simple hand test shows the difference. The fix: breathe through your nose in slow, deep cycles of 10 to 20 seconds to activate your parasympathetic nervous system and reduce stress.

So what if I say currently you are breathing it wrong? And I will prove you, and I'll also show you in this video how you can fix it. Because breath is of your life. Breath is one of the biggest ways you can elevate your overall health and wellness. So in this video, I'm going to deep dive into what is the mistake you're doing with your current breath and how you can fix it. With a practical experience. Hi, my name is Arvind Padmaraju. I'm a health and wellness coach, and in this video, we're going to deep dive into how to breathe properly and what are the mistakes you can avoid while breathing, while doing your breathing. Okay, so first, let's understand what is our— how— what happens when we do breathing, right? When you do breathing, what exactly happens? So let me show you with a small analogy. With a small video. So when you breathe in, so you can see here, this, you can see here, when you breathe in, your oxygen is going inside your lungs and it is completely filling it, and all the carbon dioxide from the body is going out and exhale. So this is what is a process which is happening. So what is happening when you, uh, don't do it properly? This particular process is getting disturbed. This particular process of taking oxygen and supplying to your body and releasing all the carbon dioxide out of your body is, um, this process is getting disturbed. So how you can actually correct this breathing technique? So I will going to tell you how, what is a practical way you can actually do this properly. So let me explain you what is the first thing which is happening while you're breathing in. Okay, so with a small example I wanted to show you so that you can see. You can see the screen on my, uh, left-hand side. Yes. So let me explain you what is the— what happens when you do a breathing. So when you do a breathing, what is— when you do a breathing, oxygen is going into the body and body takes out— gives the oxygen to the body and carbon dioxide, whatever is there in your lungs, it goes out. Then the same oxygen will be supplied to each and every cell of your body through a bloodstream. And whatever the carbon dioxide is there in the bloodstream, it gives back to the lungs, and from there actually it goes out. This is the process which happens when you do breathing. So what is happening when you're actually doing deep breathing? When you're not doing proper breathing, basically you have two parts of your lungs, right? Upper part and lower part. Most of the people are breathing from the upper part of the lungs region. So if I want to show you with a picture, let me, so that you can better able to understand. You can see here, so the upper part of the chest is where you're breathing. So if you are, how do you check whether you're breathing it properly or not? Just keep your hands here and see what is, when you're breathing it, which part is moving. If you're breathing it from here, if you are only the upper part, not this below this, if this upper part is moving, if your shoulders are going up like That is the wrong breathing because you're only breathing half of the lungs. You know, you are only completing the 30% of your breath. So when you really breathe, what is a diaphragmatic breathing? It's not about the breathing out from chest because there is this yellow part what you are seeing, that is called as a diaphragmatic muscle. So when you breathe in, it has to completely expand. When you breathe out, it has to completely contract. So if you want to know whether you're breathing it properly, just do this small test. Keep your hands here. And when you take a deep breath in, when you deep breathe in, you will see this part is little expanding and again contracting. But when you do it here, so do it here. So do it from previously how you used to do breathing from here. So you are breathing it from here, your shoulder going up and your chest. But when you breathe deeply, you will see this particular part is the little expanding and also your stomach is coming out. Let's do deep breathing. Basically, your whole rib cage expands and again contracts, expands, again contracts. That is what is the right way of breathing. So again, I want you to keep your hand here. Breathe in and breathe out. Again, breathe in and breathe out. So you will see a small shift in here. So I want you to check your current breathing, whether you're doing it right or wrong. Okay, so how do you check? So when you breathe in, keep your hand here and see whether your breath is only coming here and going out. That means you are doing a wrong breathing. If you keep your hand here, if you feel that you can see this particular diaphragmatic muscle is expanding, and you will literally see this part is expanding and again contracting. Let's do, let's do the, oh, your current breathing. Check your current breathing. This is— you are doing it from the chest. When you do it from the diaphragmatic breathing, so breathe, you see it's like a balloon, it goes out and it comes in. Yes, so fix this breathing. And breathing is everything, guys. If you don't breathe properly, it is the overall— your bodily function is impacted. Okay, so correct the breath and correct your health and wellness. So that is all I wanted to share. And I also wanted to tell you two more additional mistakes which you are doing it. Which I want you to avoid. The first thing is always take a breath from your nose, not from your mouth, because your nostril has some kind of filters. You see hair and all, it is actually filtering all the dust from the air what you're breathing, and also it is taking into your body. The second important thing is don't breathe in from your mouth because that filtration is not happening when you're breathing in. Another important mistake which normally we do is we do fast breathing. Do slow breathing. Slow breathing means take at least every single complete breath at least 10 to 20 seconds. When you say take deep breath in and breathe out. So the slower you breathe, the better your overall parasympathetic and your nervous system and your mind and body connection will be better. Because of this faster breathing, what you're activating is a flight fight response. And if you do take a slower breathing, you are activating a calm and peace response. Yeah, so basically the nerve system also works on your breath. So that's why when you see when you are so much of anxious, so much of stress, you will see your breath was faster. So if you— how you can literally calming down by just keep— by just taking a couple of deep breathing or diaphragmatic breathing. So hope this video is helpful. Share it with someone and let everyone fix the correct way of breathing. Correct way of breathing is Diaphragmatic breathing, also called as belly breathing. So you have to make sure that your diaphragm, diaphragm has completely expands when you breathe in and completely contracts when you breathe out. So that is what, don't breathe from your chest and your shoulders. So hope this video is helpful. If you are new to our channel, click on the subscribe button and also click on the bell icon.
