What is the best diet for you??

Aravind Padmaraju explains that all diets work the same way: you need to eat fewer calories than your body burns. Pick any diet you can actually stick to for life, aim for a 10-20% calorie cut, and use an 80/20 split between nutritious foods and treats.

Okay, in today's video, let's talk about which is the best diet. Is it intermittent fasting? Is it keto diet? Or is it low-carb diet? Is it paleo diet? Is it yo-yo diet? Is it fat diet? So if you want to know more, then watch this video till the end. Hello everyone, this is Arvind and I'm a founder of HAFIT. I am on a mission of making 100K professionals fit and healthy, which in turn helped me to create the new breed of healthy and fit kids. So let's discuss today what is the best diet for you to— for you, what is the best diet for you to lose weight. So you may be heard about there is a keto diet, there is a low-carb diet, there is a high-carb diet, there is paleo diet, there is yo-yo diet, fat diet, fruit— I know, water diet, fruit diet. There are a lot of diets you should have heard about it, right? And what is the most important while following a diet, and which is actually a best diet for you, we're gonna discuss in this video. So first of all, understand your body weight changes based on the energy principle. So the energy principle is when you give your body less than your body required calories, then you start losing your weight. If you give your body more more than your body required energy, then you start gaining weight. And if you give your body the calories what is required for your body, or the same calories if you give, then you maintain your body. Any diet, if falls under any of these 3 categories, you get the result according to the energy balance you're following. So for example, there is no rocket science in any diets. The every diet is in a negative energy balance to lose weight. For example, if you follow a keto diet, if you start consuming more than your body required calories, you know way you're gonna get the result. Same way with any kind of a diet. So intermittent fasting, or it could be— first of all, intermittent fasting is not a diet, it's kind of a, a time window you're gonna eat and you're gonna consume your food on those specific periods. But what is most important is you need to first understand the basics and fundamentals. The fundamental of your weight changes based on the energy, energy balance. So what is most important is don't go just because it has worked for someone else. It may or may not work for you. So what is the most important thing you need to keep in mind is ask these 3 questions. Can I sustain this diet for a lifetime? Can I follow? Is it flexible enough for me to follow for a lifetime? Will it fit into my lifestyle? Or is it that foods which I'm eating from last 15 to 20 years? If your answer is no for any of these 4 questions, then I'm telling you it's waste of time and waste of your energy because you cannot sustain that for a lifetime. And you're gonna leave it maybe 3 months, 6 months, 1 year you may can follow it. After that you're gonna break that pattern. So what is most important is understand what is your energy requirement, first thing, okay? And see, and maybe start with 10 to 20% less than your energy requirement for you to— if you are in a— if you want to lose your weight, and start including the balanced foods like carbs, proteins, and fats into your diet. And see and choose from the foods which you are already eating from last 15 to 20 years and create a diet and see. And don't— you don't need to worry about what time what you eat and all. So there are— you may be heard about your breakfast, you to be king, and dinner should be like a beggar and all of them. It's all, it's all myths. So you can— what is most important is from the day you start, from the day you end, how many calories you consume is most important. If they are into a negative energy balance, you keep getting results. Okay, so what you need to do is first understand how much of your body required calories. Second thing is start creating a maybe a 10 to 20% less than your energy requirement as your required calories, and then create a diet with all these 3 macronutrients: carbohydrates, fats, and protein. Okay. And the fourth is list down all the food items which falls under all these three categories. What are the foods you are already eating which is actually a carb sources? Which are the foods you are already eating which are the fat sources? Which are the foods you are already eating which are the protein sources? And try to include them into your diet within the calorie limit and then follow your diet forever. Because the moment your diet is already the foods which you are eating, you don't feel it's difficult to follow and it is easy for you to sustain it. And another point which I will tell you is don't go with too much of restrictive diet because at the end life has to be enjoyable, right? So keep 20% of your calories to add all your favorite foods. It could be pizza, it could be chocolates, it could be any kind of, any kind of foods which you want to include. You can include them as part of your day-to-day routine. So have 80% of foods coming from good nutrition, nutritionist sources, from fats, carbs, and protein. Okay, and then 20% you can add all your favorite foods so that you don't feel like diet is a torturing. You don't feel like you are too much restricting, and you can always satisfy your cravings during this journey. Okay, and once you are following this pattern for quite some time, you may hit a plateau. Plateau is nothing but you are no more in a negative energy balance, and try to again recalculate all the 3 steps which I told. Your current required body energy and, and start again reducing your calories to be in a negative energy balance. So I'll also drop you the links how you can calculate your energy requirement. I have a link in my website which is halfit.com/resources. Under that you have a calorie calculator. You can calculate how much of energy your body is required. Accordingly you can calculate it. And also I'm going to put— drop you a link here. I have explained you exactly how you can follow your diet on a step-by-step procedure. Okay, you also can check there and create the diet. So that's all for this video. And what exactly I want to tell you is don't go behind the crazy diets just because someone told you, some internet YouTuber or someone told you that this diet is the best diet. It doesn't matter. Go use— we have to use our common sense. And you have to— this whole life works on law of principles. The principle is you be in a negative energy balance, you start losing your weight. There is no magic in any kind of a diet.
