My Journey to Islam [Part 2/2] - Uncomfortable Beginnings

In this introductory vlog, the speaker outlines the purpose and format of his new YouTube channel, which will focus on religion through respectful, modern‑day debates with people of various faiths (Christian, Jewish, etc.). He aims to compare holy texts—such as the portrayal of Jesus in the Bible versus the Quran—in a sophisticated manner, while also sharing his own journey toward understanding Islam. The speaker admits to feeling awkward and nervous filming in public during lockdown, explains his personal motivation to explore and possibly challenge the beliefs he held for 16‑17 years, and emphasizes that the channel is not about winning arguments but about learning and preaching what he perceives as truth. He requests likes, subscriptions, and collaboration, acknowledges potential negative comments, and encourages viewers to stay safe, read, and stay open‑minded.

Okay, so I'm back. Okay, so what I kind of wanted to talk about now is what I kind of want from this channel. So this channel is going to be talking about religion, maybe having a few debates with people that are, you know, Christian, Jew, whatever they might be. I don't really care as long as they hold different beliefs to me. And they're trying to debate in, you know, in a modern-day fashion, you know, as long as they're not aggressive, rude, or whatever, disrespectful. I don't mind kind of debating them. I do want to understand the religions way more and not just the fundamental parts. And be able to compare them in a more— in a way that's more, I don't know, what would you call it, more sophisticated way. I want to be able to compare some of the things that's written within the holy books that people follow, maybe compare Jesus in the Bible and compare Jesus in the Quran and things like that. I want to do that in the future. If you do— if you did like this video, please do leave a like. This is my first video and is incredibly awkward, as you can probably imagine, walking around with your phone up in your hand looking like an idiot in the I don't know, 9 o'clock in the morning, speaking to yourself. Incredibly weird and awkward. But I, you know, I want to do this to help myself and help other people really, and just find new people to talk to because I feel like, at least for me, I'm incredibly restricted with who I can talk to about religion. Most people are not even willing to have a debate. And I think debates can be bad, to be honest, because, you know, people don't want to— if they want, you know, if they kind of lose a debate or if there's, you know, the idea that is proven to be wrong, but they're still fighting for it, I think it's mainly because of their ego. No one likes to be wrong. Everyone wants to be right, unfortunately. Well, to be honest, that's a very normal thing nowadays. I reckon I understand why they would feel like that, but for me, there's a bigger picture to this whole thing. Like, for me, there's— it's not about like being right or being liked or just being the one to have the correct views. For me, it's more like to preach what I know and I think is the truth, and at the same time learn. Learn why people follow the things that they follow. And I appreciate and understand that it's hard to be open-minded to other religions, other beliefs and ideologies, because that was literally me. You know, that was literally me. I did not want to look into different religions simply because I didn't want to discover that what I had been following for the past 16, 17 years has simply been incorrect. I mean, that would hit anyone hard. I don't know, I think I kind of overcomplicate everything in life and have for pretty much all my life. Sorry, I'm just going up a hill. I'm trying to find a place where there's literally no one so I can sit down and comfortably talk without being judged by random people walking past. Okay, so I never thought doing this would be hard. Oh God, let me just show you where I am right now. If you look, I just came down— sorry, I just came up from that hill, and right now I'm here. Uh, okay, so one thing I would really— um, sorry, so this video has been a little bit weird and awkward in that I haven't been able to speak very— I've just been speaking generally speaking. I haven't given any evidence and I haven't spoken very clear. If I haven't spoken very clearly or someone misunderstood me, or I've just been waffling on for a little bit, it's simply because I'm shy and nervous of talking in public. I mean, I don't know why I picked the first video for me to do to do it in public. That's kind of dumb of me. Anyways, so I hope that we can build upon this channel, talk to a bunch of different people, and trust me, I do have knowledge about the different religions. Maybe I haven't been talking about it, and as I said before, simply because I'm outside and I'm incredibly nervous and I don't like being judged and looked at by other people. So what you can expect from the next sort of kind of videos is I will be talking to different people, different backgrounds, different beliefs. I will be doing videos about why I believe, giving some evidence, trying to explain myself. I might also do a bunch of like random What would you call them? Like vlogs? Just like fun videos because I'm incredibly bored in lockdown and there's absolutely nothing to do apart from talk to yourself, which seems incredibly depressing, but it is. So please, please, I beg you, like this video, subscribe. I don't know, put your notification on or whatever people normally do on a normal video. I don't know, I'm not too familiar. Join my family, I guess. I don't know, seems kind of awkward now. Anyways, I just wanted to say that I genuinely appreciate everyone and I really, really understand. I will not— like, some— most people say, 'I won't judge you,' but they judge you. Like, that's literally everyone. But for me, genuinely speaking, I do not care where you're from, what you believe. Absolutely, I don't care. I respect it, and I think you should, because, um, what if you were born into that circumstance? If you believe what I believe, you simply could have been born into that circumstance. And then you wouldn't have been liked if someone judged you, so why would you judge other people? Flawed concept, I guess. Um, I don't know, try to keep safe in lockdown, try to stay positive, read a few books, go outside, go for walks, I don't know, talk to yourself, recording yourself outside in public, maybe try that out, I don't know. If anyone wants to collaborate, I'm more than willing to do that. I would love that, actually. Just meeting new people. Don't really know what to say, to be honest. England is just so boring right now. Yeah, I don't know. Um, I'm just thinking, I don't want to be, uh, okay, I'm just kind of thinking of what the comments below are probably going to be like. People are probably just going to violate me for the way I look or whatever, but I don't really care if I'm honest. I watched like a few videos on how to make YouTube videos and Like one of them said that the first 100 videos that you make are gonna be really bad. Like whatever you do, the first 100 videos that you make are gonna be bad. So there's literally no point being scared or nervous or whatever. Like everyone's been through it, so I don't really care. But if you want to put a hate comment down below, I don't really care as long as it's really like— try to make it funny or whatever because Why not? I hope you guys have a nice day. I try to stay safe, I try to keep positive. I don't know, read new books, just be open-minded to different things. I guess you have a nice day.
