A walkthrough of Tesla's Semi production line shows how a robot removes cabs for quality testing and measurement. Major parts can be extracted at inspection points, then reassembled later, letting the factory build inventory and adjust supply chain flow flexibly.

All right, here we are, Tesla Semi Factory. There's the cab, a giant robot. It's cool as fuck. Is it going to land it on that platform?
That's our takeout dolly, so, uh, when we need to measure the cabin, we'll place it here and take it out and go for measurement. Okay. And we'll do quality qualification as well as like, well, non-destructive testing. And then also periodically we'll also do a teardown to ensure like the quality is good.
Okay. So at the end of both the major sub-assemblies, you'll see this where we have the ability to extract an assembly. And like Thomas said, that's for inspections, it's for audit checking of how the product is doing. And then sometimes it's also for service because we have to build up inventory for parts and assemblies as well. So some of those lines have the ability to off-take at random points as opposed to all just directly feeding down to the future of the supply chain.
Gotcha.
Okay. So yeah, what would usually happen is that the body comes through here, it gets conveyed over to that area and the robot would pick it up from that side to bring it up. But visually it's a lot easier to see.
