Altion, an Indian startup, built an ultra-light carbon-fiber drone that can fly for over a year by skimming the ocean like an albatross to recharge its battery. It's designed for maritime surveillance, tracking ships and illegal activity far cheaper than patrol boats. A test flight is coming soon.

Okay, now we are at Altion in Bangalore. They make this aircraft that you can see behind me. It is super lightweight, made out of carbon fiber, and it's designed to fly for more than a year at a time. It's meant to mimic what an albatross does, which is this sort of dynamic flight where it goes right near the surface of the water and picks up energy. And so these have 2 propellers. See if I can show you guys. And then there's a battery in here. And so that does these loops out in the ocean to recharge the battery, and then it goes off on its mission. And it's meant to do things like tracking boats out in the water. Possibly you could, um, it's basically looking for people doing illegal things out in the oceans. Wow. And they think they want to make thousands, millions of these and have them out patrolling the water all the time. Way cheaper than having a boat to do That type of thing. And obviously you'd get tons more coverage if you had a bunch of these. And we're gonna go do a flight test. This is all part of what we've been talking about, the rise of hard tech in India. Tons of these startups out here doing carbon fiber, new products, drones, these planes, all kinds of things. Cool factory here, a little flight test center back there. And we'll have a big video on the new YouTube channel soon. Thank you guys so much. Thank you. Thank you so much for watching.
