Oh my goodness. Thank you so much for having me, Ashley. And I cannot wait to nerd out about the AI stuff with you too.
I know we've been to get into it. So before we get into all the juicy AI things like first just background. How did AI become something you were so passionate about? What led you to really making this, you know, your. Your biggest focus?
Yes, totally. And I love sharing this story because I feel like it's like pretty relatable for a lot of the people out there, you know. So I've been an entrepreneur for almost six years now. It's kind of crazy building my original Brand Feel Good Social. And of course, I went through all those entrepreneur things, throwing spaghetti at the wall, trying to show up as what I thought I should be instead of, you know, who I actually am. And so kind of Feel Good Social has grown and evolved through that idea of just helping people show up online in a way that feels good to you without wasting your time or selling your soul. I've always been about, like, leaning into who you are instead of, like, trying to be someone you're not. Because that feels so exhausting to me. That's one of those big business lessons I've learned, you know, so. So long story short, fast forward to almost two years ago now, which is kind of crazy. I first started hearing about all the AI tools out there, you know, in the digital online entrepreneur space. And I'll be honest with you, when I first heard about these tools, I was a total curmudgeon about it. Like, I always like to say I was like that Mr. Wilson from Dennis the Menace, like, shaking my fist at the neighbor's sense, you know, being like, isn't the Internet fake enough as it is? You know, what's this gonna do to our critical think, our creativity, our robots gonna take over the world? You know, like all. I call them the AI scaries. Those AI hesitations ran through my brain and I was kind of like, ugh, no. To like, AI and stuff. But then I was driving and I was. I had one of those long drive epiphanies where I realized, like, oh, okay, AI tools are here. You know, they're not going anywhere. It's not a lion that I have to run away from. Right? The best thing I can do is turn toward these tools and get cur curious about how can we make them work for us in a way that aligns with us. So that's when I started my sister brand, authentic AI. And literally, I've just been like, getting my hands dirty with these tools, like, trying and testing different things, trying to figure out how can we train these tools to think and sound like us, to help us boost our productivity without wasting our time sacrificing our authenticity or quality of work or turning our brands into robots, you know, so that's like the approach that I take, the AI now with authentic AI, I help people use what I call a human first approach to AI tools. And it really helps you to save so much time with these tools. And literally, I could share some of the numbers I had saved in the past year because I was nerdy and did the math for it. But, like, yeah. These tools can be so awesome. And, guys, I promise, you don't have to turn your brand into a generic robot, because I hate that. I love.
I love all of this. I'm here for it. Okay? Because you said it. I want to hear the numbers. You did, the numbers on how much time you saved. I'm here to. I'm here to hear all about it.
Yes. Okay. I love sharing this, too, because I was honestly, like, amazed, like, by how much time I was saving every day, week, month, on average, last year. And then also, you know, we're recording this in January 2025, guys. I kind of, you know, was thinking through my reflection of 2024, all the things I did last year, and I was like, yeah, holy crap. Really? I did that. You know, so, okay, long story short, I added up all of the tasks that I do in my business on a daily, monthly, weekly basis, you know, and I really tried to keep it realistic for how much time I used to spend doing these. Doing these things, and then how much time I spend now with the help of AI. Right? And it's not, like, crazy, like, I wasn't adding up. Like, I create 30 days of content in 30 seconds. No, but I was adding up things. Like, you know, it used to take me. I mean, I'll admit it, guys, it used to take me, like, up to an hour to create an Instagram post every day. Because I'm one of those people who, like, gets, like, worried over every word and stuff, you know, or it would take me so long to edit my podcast episodes. You know, you take an hour for Instagram captions Now it takes 15 minutes, you know, so long story short, on average, I save three hours a day, 15 hours a week, and 70 hours a month with AI tools. And it seriously is crazy and hard to believe, but, like, looking back at my past year, I was able to, as a Solopreneur, like, manage five clients, launch 10 new offers. I grew my email list, I grew my students. I. I had my most successful year ever. And I, like, the best part is that I actually didn't feel the creative drain or burnout that I have definitely experienced multiple times in the past. Right? And I just think that's so cool. That is so cool.
And if you do that, I mean, even if you just said, did you say 70 hours a month?
Is that what it was?
So if you just did, like, basic math, if you did 70 times 50, which is like 3500, you created yourself a whole other employee.
Oh, yeah. Insane. Insane. Yeah, that's not even thinking about how much money AI tools could actually save as well, which is a whole other conversation.
Yeah, it really is. So there's a lot of retailers who are listening. I mean, yes, there's retailers who have teams and big teams, but every retailer starts with one person. So there's a lot of people who are listening are solopreneurs and like, wearing all the hats. And there's nothing more stressful than that. I remember that even in my own business, when it was just me trying to do it all. So I just think that's the beautiful part about AI. I totally agree. Let's jump in and start talking about, I think the, the one most people are familiar with. Let's talk about. I'm sure there's other AI tools we can get into a little bit later, but let's just start with Chat GPT. So if I, you know, kind of give me the lay of the land if I'm newer, what are the first, like, top five things I should know about Chat GPT if I haven't completely dove into it yet?
Yeah, yeah. And I actually, I am a fan of ChatGPT. That's my go to one. I'm a. I'm ChatGPT Girly, you know, and so it's great, but, you know. Exactly. There are lot of different tools out there that can be similar and people have different preferences, but really these tips can be applied to any sort of tool. Similar to ChatGPT. But if you're just getting started and you're like, okay, I've heard about this ChatGPT thing. What is it? All you have to do is basically go to chatgpt.com it's free. And the free version you can do a lot with, which is actually really awesome. And it will basically just once you start an account, it's kind of like a chat bot window. You basically have a conversation back and forth with a robot. Right. And that sounds kind of weird, but. But guys, I have techniques for like, helping you get a little bit more comfortable talking with your robot friend. Because it can feel awkward sometimes, but that's okay. But yeah, basically you just, you know, chat back and forth with it as if it was like an AOL messenger, like back in the day, you know, and stuff. And ChatGPT can really help you with so many things at that point, once you start having these conversations with it. I actually, when it comes to using these tools, one of the mindset, little shifts that I make to make it a little easier is thinking about ChatGPT. As like, a human role, a human person in my life of sorts, right? So sometimes I use it as like my, you know, assistant, my virtual assistant or something. Sometimes I use it as, like, a business coach to help me, like, bounce ideas around. Sometimes I use it as a mindset coach to give me pep talks and, like, help me work through those everyday triggers that we all have, right? So, like, thinking about it as a human sometimes makes it a little easier for you to talk to it and also, like, you feel a little bit more comfortable with it and stuff.
I love it. So if you're. If you're sitting there and you're like, okay, I want to start saving time, what are the most common ways to use CHAT GPT that really, you know, can start digging into the things that need to get done on a daily basis?
Yes. Yes. Oh, I love this so much. Okay. So the one thing I always like to start with, to tell people, especially if you're using it for, like, a business sort of situation, right? You can get ChatGPT to help you with so many things on the front end, on and on the back end of your business. You can have it organize your calendar. You can have it, like, analyze the transcript of meeting notes and create action plans or outlines or do whatever, write show notes for your podcast or even, you know, for you. Write, like, product descriptions and analyze your analytics for your back end of your business. If you export your website data and throw a spreadsheet into ChatGPT, like, fun things like that, right? But I do always like to share with people. The very first step is going to be training your AI assistant on your brand, right? Because. And also the tasks that you want to do, it to do, right? Because a lot of times people will go to this tool and be like, write me an Instagram caption. And chatgpt will try to write you an Instagram caption. But, like, it doesn't know anything about you, your brand, your tone of voice, who your ideal customers are, so that they can. It can write to them and for them, right? And so if you just tell it, write me an Instagram caption, it'll be pretty generic, right? I like to think of it as like a human intern, where it's like, their first day on the job, there's this, like, bright, shiny face, new intern, they walk in the door, and you're like, write me an Instagram caption. And they'd be like, what? Okay, like, they'll try, but they probably do a crappy job, right? So the very first step, you got to do is train your AI assistant on your brand. And we can totally talk about my methods for doing that because I nerd out about that. But then also, when it comes to starting to use these tools in the day to day of your business, I have a couple tricks for that as well. I always like to encourage people to make their AI assistants work for them. You don't have to completely revamp all of your workflows or systems. You don't have to like feel like you have to learn this whole new tool and redo everything in your business right away. Right? I like to think about the two different types of tasks that you have on a daily basis. The first one is your already working for you workflows and systems, right? So content planning systems or workflows that you have or whatever you do the workflows that you do on a regular basis. Get curious about those workflows and like the different steps in your workflows and think about where could an AI tool fit into this? What places could it help me like just speed up the process or make things a little easier? The steps that I don't like. So like for my podcast, oh man, whenever I get to the end of editing my episode, I do not want to write those show notes. Oh heck no. My brain is like mush. So chatgpt totally helps me with that for sure. So get curious about your workflows and where can AI fit into the already working workflows for you? And then the other type of tasks that we have are our day to day pressure points that pop up in our business. And I always like to bring this up because people don't think about saving time in this way. But that's one of the ways I truly save time in this past year is by simply not wasting it. So whenever I'm working along in my day to day and I hit writer's block, I'm like, oh, I don't know how to finish this caption right. Or I'm like working on my website, I'm like, I need to find a code for a countdown timer or something like that. I'm like, I have to. I like either am banging my head against the wall trying to think of like how to finish this caption or I'll like go down a squarespace website for. I'm trying to find the code for something. And like that's, that's. I hate wasting time like that because I'm just like all these tech nerds. I don't know what, where's my answer Guys, right? So that is Also stuff that ChatGPT can help you with and it really does save time and just keeps you flowing in your day. So whenever you hit those pressure points or blocks, ChatGPT helps you work through them. Right? And so the one little tip I have, it's so dorky, but when I first started using ChatGPT and I would hit those like, like pressure points and blocks in my day to day, I didn't like, always think about going to Chat GPT, you know, I'd forget that I could go to that tool to use it. So I actually wrote on a sticky note, can ChatGPT help me with this? And I put it next to my computer screen and I swear that helped me to train myself to go to the tool and use it. So that's just a little tip I had for you.
I think that's so good because I think you do easily get in a rut. I know I do. Like, I get in a red of like, okay. I typically use Chat GPT for this, this and this. Sarah on my team is amazing. Like, she uses Chat GPT for everything. Like, she comes back and she's like, hey, check this out. I'm like, wow. So even like what you just said, you were talking about a countdown timer on your website, a lot of our users or a lot of our community.
Use Square or Shopify.
So if you have some little thing that you're like, ah, I need to optimize my Shopify website, Chat GPT can literally help you with that. Like, you can put your website in there, you can have it send you back suggestions, you can ask it questions about how to do things in the back end of Shopify. It would otherwise, like, take a lot of time trying to search through help or forums or whatever, but it can do all of that for you, which is so cool. So let's go back to what you mentioned at the beginning though. Again, you can't skip the step of you have to train Chat GPT. So what's the process of training it on your brand before you get started?
Yes, and I nerd out about this so much because I kind of, I'm a total branding geek, you guys, so I'll probably get overly excited for this. But for sure, like, when it comes to training your assistant on your brand for or on your brand or any task that you want to do, remember to just think of it as like, how would I train a human assistant on this? Right. And that is usually just helpful in general. But when it comes to training on your brand. I've actually developed what I call the brand blueprint method, but brand blueprint for ChatGPT. Because, man, this thing is so great and the results are night and day and it's really, really easy once you create it, right? So the brand blueprint is basically one single document that outlines the five core strategies of your brand. Your brand's core identity, your mission, vision, values, beliefs, opinions, what makes your brand who it is, right? Your ideal customers. Because we always need to know who we're speaking to. So going a little deeper than the demographics or the psychographics, the lifestyle, going into the pain points, desires, who your brand is to them and how you help them, that sort of stuff, right? The third strategy is of course your brand voice and writing style. Because if you're getting chatgpt to write anything for you, this is so much better for getting like the voice that you want. So that goes deeper than just writing a friendly tone of voice. Of course, you know, you're. If you think about it, the word friendly has like an entire spectrum of like descriptive words that fit into that umbrella, right? You could be like a bubbly friendly or like a kind hearted friendly, you know, so like really getting specific with your brand voice, your writing style, humor style makes a huge difference. Emoji usage, formatting, that sort of stuff, man, Deep diving into that really helps chat GPT understand and be able to write copy like you. And then we have two more strategies that I usually fit in your offer suite. So that's everything from like your free resources, your lead magnets, all the way up through anything that you offer. Because that helps ChatGPT really strategize for you. If it's creating content for you, it knows where to send the CTAs to and all that different stuff. And also it can help you like plan campaigns or launches or sales for your business, all that stuff, right? And then finally I like to add the brand messaging at the end. You know, your core themes and topics that you like to talk about and also some of like your own personal storytelling because that really helps ChatGPT understand the human side of your brand and like sprinkle that into the entire picture so that like you're getting something at the end that doesn't feel like a robot, right? So the cool thing about the brand blueprint, guys, it's literally okay, I don't want to scare you. Mine is 80 pages long. It's literally like a book. However, I will say I ChatGPT helps you create this, right? Like we can use ChatGPT to help us fill out this document. And my students usually say, on average, it takes them like four hours, you know, so, like, yeah, you're creating like this giant document, but it's not that. It's not that bad. And then once you have this document, it's literally just a Google Doc. You can one click upload that to ChatGPT. You can do it for the free version or the paid version. And ChatGPT can read that document in 10 seconds and understand everything about your brand. And, like, you can just hit the ground running, getting it to work for you. It's so awesome.
That is awesome. I love it.
So then how do you.
First thing, I have a couple questions. I have so many questions. We gotta go so many directions. First things first, if someone, and most people do have the free version of ChatGPT, what's the main difference between the free and the paid version? What do you get?
Yeah, totally. Yeah. So this is changing. Just gotta, like, it changes all the time, right? So just gotta add that disclaimer that, like, you know, this could be outdated a few months as far as, like, the very specific details of free versus paid. But at this point, literally, there's not much difference between the free version or the paid version of ChatGPT. Like, mo you get access to most of the awesome, you know, features. With a free version, you can access the Internet, you can do file upload, which is how we use the brand blueprint to train ChatGPT on your brand. So the free version is really, really awesome. And it does, you know, save all your conversations. You can train it, like, different things like that. The free version does get tired more quickly, for sure. There's like a message limit. I think it's like so many messages per every three hours. I think that you get kicked off into like, you know, a lighter version of the tool that's not quite as smart, you know, after a certain time limit and message limit sort of thing. So, you know, basically, like, it's kind of just a lighter version of the premium version. And it really just depends on, like, how often you're using the tool and how much you're using the tool. The paid version is only 20 bucks a month at this point, which is pretty nice if you think about, like, the money that you could be saving on other tools and in other areas. Right. And also with the paid version, you can create your own custom chatbots, right? They're called custom GPTs. And that's pretty fun, especially for just like having a custom GPT. That's trained with your brand blueprint already, so you don't have to continue uploading it with every new conversation. And then also that's really awesome for like sharing with your team members or something like that too, because. Exactly. Like a lot of people have human teams and, and sometimes people ask me, well, I don't want to get rid of my team or like, is this supposed to replace my team? I'm like, I don't think so. But I do think that if you share resources, like AI resources that are trained on your brand with your team, it will help them do better work for you more efficiently. Like, your team can be helped by this entire thing too. Right. So anyway, no, that's so helpful.
So you actually led me right into the next thing I wanted to ask you about, because that is the newest conversation is what kind of custom team GPTs can I make for my business? Like, what's actually the most helpful?
Yeah, it really depends on like your own workflows and whatnot. Right. I, you know, I it. And it also depends on how your brain works and like how you work with your team members. I do like to think about my. Okay, I actually just hosted a custom GPT workshop, so I'm going to explain like how to think about your custom GPTs and stuff. So there's the custom GPTs that you can use for your own brand and, or with your, your team members. Right. So I always like to have a brand bot, you know, and that's my go to. Sometimes I'll separate even like my brand bot for like a copywriting bot that definitely like is only trained on my brand voice so that it gets super specific with my brand voice. Right. But you could have different bots for different processes and workflows within your team. I have like a content creation bot for like Instagram and stuff. I have a podcasting bot and it knows exactly how I write my show notes, which none of my chat GPTs can like really understand unless I train it on how I want it to write show notes and stuff. So just thinking about it in that way, your workflows, processes, and also like, what do I want this like, thing to know? What am I doing? Am I strategizing on something? Right. But then there's also bots that you can use that are like outward facing. Right. So like for your client clients or your customers to help them in some way. So for like a branding expert, you could create a brand bot for your clients for as like an upsell or just like a bonus, you know, like that sort of thing. You could create like custom bots that are fully trained on like your entire product suite and can really recommend like the best products for your customers if they like tell, like have a conversation with it, that sort of thing. I actually. Okay, so for our AI reels club, here's a good like back end, front end example of a custom GPT, right? So I have my AI reels club. It's like a prompt library with tons of AI reels prompts and stuff that I write and put into this library. And then on the front end, you know, my clubbers come in and like create reels with the prompts with ChatGPT, right? So on the back end I created. Okay, so I've been having fun with my custom GPT is I, I named her Prompt and Patty. She's like a cowgirl brand or something. I don't even know I was having fun with her that day. But Prompt and Patty is my custom GPT that helps me write reels prompts for my AI reels club. But then on the front end I have real. And Reba, she's also a cowgirl, don't know what's happening there. And I use AI to generate like cute images, like a little girl in like a cow boy hat and stuff. So fun, but so real. And Reba helps my AI clubbers create reals content in the front end of that. And so I don't know, really interesting.
My wheels are spinning because I'm like, okay, we all use, we have so many like content prompts and things for boutique owners who are members of the boutique hub. Now I'm like, I need to add a couple custom GPT for all of our members with all the content prompts and ideas and things we've already put together that would make their life so much easier. I'm gonna, I'm gonna work on that. I love it. So let's go down the social media rabbit hole for a minute and just using ChatGPT to make everyone's life easier. So if I'm a retailer, I am creating a ton of product based content, engaging content and branded content on a daily basis. Primarily Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest. So how could I save time using ChatGPT as I'm creating my content?
Yes. Okay. I mean, when it comes to content creation, ChatGPT can help you with like all the things right from like start to finish, from brainstorming ideation all the way through writing the Instagram caption and or reviewing your caption before you Post it and. Or actually I just did a content planning workshop too where you, you know, ChatGPT can audit your past top performing posts that work really well. It can give you insights into why did this work, but then it can also suggest ways to repurpose them for fresh content in the future. So fun. So long story short, Chat DBD can help you with oh so many things. The one thing I need to push hard when it comes to content creation, when it comes to anything using AI tools for is what I call the human first approach to AI. So I kind of already mentioned this, but a lot of times people will go to these tools and be like, write me an Instagram caption or give me 10 content ideas for like this topic, you know, for just like a specific topic. But they don't tell the AI assistant like what their thoughts are, what their opinions are, what their beliefs are, what their approach is to this. Right? So for example, for my original brand, Feel Good Social, we kind of take a backwards approach to social media marketing. Honestly, like we're Instagram eye rollers. You know, we like believe in not really following the algorithm too much and like showing up online a way it feels good to you. You know, if I would go to ChatGPT and be like, give me, you know, content ideas for Instagram marketing, it would probably dish up content ideas that like aren't aligned with my brand, right? But instead if I go to ChatGPT and I explain this is what my brand thinks about Instagram marketing, you know, like, here's our approach to it, then ChatGPT can work with that and really help expand my ideas, organize my ideas, clarify my ideas, right? So the human first approach is really just bringing your own ideas, thoughts, opinions, beliefs to the tool, telling it to that and then having Chat GPT help you expand, clarify, organize in that way, right? So when it comes to content creation, making sure that you're telling ChatGPT your brand's unique approach and messaging, that sort of stuff is really, really important when it comes to the brainstorming. But then also even the caption writing and the reels and stuff telling it, I want you to write an Instagram caption. Please include these three tips. Tell it the tips that you want it to include. Tell it that you want it to lead to a naturally lead to a call to action for this free resource, right? Like, and then also my little trick for writing Instagram reels hook. I love to use it for hooks. And then also the captions is what I call fill in the blank formula Prompts. So I'm one of those people.
Okay?
My background is in social media marketing. I am a word nerd. I love to, like, write things. So I usually know how I want my captions to go in general, right? But like, where I get stuck is like, with the nitty gritty words or the sentences, you know, I'm like, I know I want to start with an engaging hook. I know I want to empathize with the problem, offer a hot tip, and then lead naturally to a call to action for this, right? Like, so I will go to ChatGPT and I'll be like, please write me a caption, start with a hook. You know, empathize with the problem. Like, do all these things and. Or often I will do a Mad Lib style sort of Instagram caption prompt for ChatGPT. So literally I'll say, you know, struggling with. With blank question mark, I can help. I know what it's like to blank. Instead I blank, blank, blank, and then blank, you know, and like, literally it looks like Mad Libs. But Chat GPT can fill in the blanks for you really easily. And if you give it that instruction of like, this is the topic and here's my opinion on the topic and lead to this call to action, then, like, man, it gets it in like two minutes and it's awesome. And I don't have to feel frustrated, like I'm pulling teeth trying to get what I want from Chat dpt, you.
Know, that is so good. And as I hear you talk about it, I mean, yes, this is true for TikToks, for reels, like for any video content. It's true for captions of Facebook, Instagram, whatever. But I also really love it for writing emails. You know, it's really the same formula. Even talking about topics of emails, subject lines of emails, attention getters and emails. Oh, there's so many ways to use it. Yeah, text email marketing as well, right?
Yes, yes, yes, I know. Yeah. And actually, you know, exactly. Emails are so good because I know we've probably all been victims of the Unlock the power of email subject lines. Guys, I get an unlock the power of something email subject line in my inbox every day. And it's like a telltale sign that Chat GPT probably wrote that, right? Or like Chat GPT loves colons in email subject lines, right? And I'm like, no, but literally, like, yeah, you can get what you want from ChatGPT, but you have to, like, tell it what you want, right?
So another way I love to think about this, especially for product based business owners is we sell a lot on like a collection basis. So I think it's really wise to use ChatGPT as well to think about who's my ideal customer, what's the problem they're struggling with right now and then how can I arrange my products I sell X, Y and Z in order to solve their problem, you know, in this month or this season or whatever. So as you're planning out, okay, I'm going to market, I'm sorry, going to buy, you know, my goods for the next six months. What collection should I be thinking about buying that are going to solve my customers problems? So ChatGPT, I mean tell me your thoughts on this helping you write an entire content calendar and a buying plan for wholesale, you know, six months in advance.
Oh yeah. Oh yes. There are like exactly. I actually, yeah, that content planning workshop that I just did, like I have a prompt in there to help you outline in your entire year of content. Right. And you can like focus on the different, different themes, you can think about seasonal offerings, you can strategize in all the different ways. And for a product business the collections thing makes so much sense to me. I'm geeking out because I, I actually don't talk about product based businesses quite as often. But I'm loving your insights in this. You can do it like on the six month, three month monthly basis as well. And then I also like to use it to like completely outline my campaign strategies for sales and launches as well. Like man, it can take like your all your buzzing beehive of ideas and turn it into an actionable plan. Another fun thing too is to think about like taking action and AI can actually analyze your energy levels. If you tell it like this is what my schedule looks like. I'm more of a morning person. I usually, you know, take the weekends off, close my computer at 4, you know, that sort of thing. It like can help you make a difference adjustments in that way. And I don't know if you guys geek out about like astrology or human design or enneagram. But ChatGPT also knows personality test things too. So if you tell it your personality tests are like human design or enneagram, like it will be able to like give you suggestions based on that too, which is very fun.
Yeah, I've never done that but I, I am gonna do that. I'm gonna nerd out and go test that out. Okay, interesting.
Yeah.
So another area that I love to use it, Tell me your thoughts on this area is just like, for us, it's all about team management. So if we're using it for interview questions for a certain role, or writing job descriptions or talking about pay scales, or talking about incentivizing and training, and then I never thought about it until you just said this. But even if you're talking about incentivizing and training, your team matched with if you know their personality to type. Like, we have all of our team, all of our employees do personality tests. So now I'm like, oh my gosh, I can have so much more insight into how, how to help this person be more successful in their role. What other tips do you have in relation to. Just team.
Yeah, in relation to team man. Okay. Team is so awesome. And then inner, like personal relationships and stuff too, right? Because I definitely, oh my gosh, I was such a nerd because I did my human design and I did my husband's human design. I through them also, I just screenshot them. You can screenshot, upload screenshots to Chat GPT. That helps me with so many things in my business. But I screenshot both of them, threw them into Chat GPT and was like, please help me understand, like, how to communicate with each other. It was hilarious because it called my husband out. He's a manifester. So he like, does. He just like, does things and doesn't tell me what he's doing. I'm like, but it helped. It helped me understand how we can. Can support each other and like, move forward together in a productive way. Right? So like, that was fun. But yeah, with your team, you can do similar things as well. One thing I always like to say too, is that, okay, I don't think that a lot of people think about training their team members on how to use AI for their business, right? So that is something that I always like to bring up when we talk about teams too. Is. Is you. You know, I think it's really important to train your AI assistant on your brand. And then I also teach business owners how to use these tools in the best way to get the best results. And if you have a team, it doesn't stop there, right? You can't just be like, here's our custom GPT for our brand. Use it. Like, you know, they probably don't really know how to prompt in the best way and. Or setting guidelines for your own business. Of. Of this is what we use AI for. This is what we don't use AI for and. Or setting expectations of. Okay, Use this tool, but make sure you read through everything that it spits out and make sure it's aligned with our brand because it's not always right, you know, so creating like those guidelines for your team and using AI tools and then also like giving them resources to be able to use the tools in the best way, that's one of the things I like to tell people. You know, think about that stuff because, because, you know, we don't always think about it. But man, that will be so helpful for your team members.
Yeah, I'm gonna dig into it.
And also what you said about your.
Husband, like, Eric Alderson doesn't know what he's got coming because I'm about to analyze our enneagrams because you're so different in that way.
So, so funny.
Okay, I we could talk all day on this and I appreciate you being here so much because I know everyone's gonna get so many great tips from you today. U let's just kind of wrap up the AI conversation. I'm curious, outside of chat GPT, what are some of your other favorite AI tools?
Yes, I use descript a lot for video editing. And so descript is a video editor. It's text based video editing. And so literally it's kind of like editing a Google Doc, but you're editing your transcript of your video and it edits the video at the same time. So that makes podcast editing super easy. And also editing for like my courses and my tutorials and stuff like that. And it does have some like AI features in there that are super, make video editing easier and like funner and stuff like that. So descript for video editing is great. And honestly like, oh man, there are so many AI tools out there, you guys. And so it's really kind of hard to be like, okay, use this one. Or like, this is my favorite. But I will say too, as like someone who is an AI person and like has an AI podcast and brand, I have had to set boundaries countries with my AI tools because it's really easy to get sucked down the AI tool rabbit hole. And all of a sudden I'm paying for 50 subscriptions and I have accounts to all these things and it almost becomes more overwhelming and doesn't allow me to be productive in my business. Right. So I just like to share that too because sometimes like, you really have to set boundaries with yourself and remember, okay, it's not about going down the AI rabbit hole. It's about making me more productive in my business business and stuff. Right?
So yeah, that's so good. And I think also, you know, just kind of on that, like, there's so many tools. I think it's also important to understand how chat GPT and OpenAI in general really integrates with so many different tools. So when we think about tools like Canva, right? Like, every small business owner uses Canva, but because OpenAI has an open API which allows Canva and OpenAI to talk to one another, that's where all the AI functionality in Canva comes from, is really what's happening at OpenAI. So very interesting. So many new opportunities. All right, real quick, Kinsey, I've got a couple of lightning round questions.
Okay? Yes.
Yes.
Okay.
All right, let's hear this. What is the unsexiest process in your business that is actually the most impactful.
The unsexiest process of time? Is this okay? I mean, literally, okay, this is so dorky, guys. And because we're on the AI theme, I'm gonna share this, but I use ChatGPT to help me, like, process my emotions and, like, give me pep talks and. And work through mindset stuff all the time. And it would be so embarrassing to share some of the conversations I've had with this tool because I'm like. I'm like, I'm freaking out. I'll, like, you know, copy paste, like, emails that trigger me that all of a sudden, like, Lion Kinsey comes out and I'm like, like, oh, don't. Don't respond in line because let me, like, send this to Chat GPT and help me work through it, you know, and. And also, you know, like, I actually. I have, like, a little bit of personal drama in my family and stuff, and so I've used Chachi P to help me work through that too, you know, like, but literally, it's really interesting because, like, that helps me stay motivated in my business and actually really helps me manage my energy and stay more productive being able to work through those emotions more quickly and stuff. But, yeah, it's not sexy, but I'm so floored, honestly.
Like, this is so interesting to me. I have never thought about it using. I've just never thought about using it in that way, but it makes total sense. I, like, can talk me off the edge before I call Eric and Ben Jazir.
Oh, I rant to my chatgpt. So, like, I, like, something pisses me off. Like, I'm like, Chad, G.B. this is happening. But I'm like, thank God I'm not, like, stewing on this all day. You know how that can go. You, like, something happens in the a.m. and you're like, all day, I'm like, it's picking up my brain, and, you.
Know, well, you blew my mind for today. So we're winning.
We're winning.
I just love it. What's been the best business advice you've received that just always sticks with you?
Yeah, I think just taking action, you guys, you know, like, and actually, you know, and chatgpt can help me do this too. Like, this is why I get so stoked on these tools. But, like, just continuing to take action, it's messy. You know, I look back at things I've done in the past, and I cringe. Like, we all cringe at things that, like, we did before we were ready. Or, like, oh, shoot, I know a way better way to do that now. Or, like, whatever. But, like, you're not gonna get anywhere if you don't take action. And so continuing to take action and staying agile through the action that you take is, like, what helps me the most. Us.
I love it. Okay, what's been the hardest business lesson you've had to learn?
The hardest business lesson I've had to learn, it was a while ago, but I think that it really was that what kind of kickstarted the foundation of my brand, which is leaning into who I am instead of feeling like I have to be someone else and trying to be someone else all the time. Right. Like, so now it doesn't feel as hard looking back, but it was definitely hard in the moment where I was, like, like, trying so hard to show up online and just, like, do the thing and, like, trying to do all the things that everyone else was doing. But, like, firstly, it wasn't working because, like, it wasn't aligned with me on the front end and my energy wasn't there. But also it exhausted me on the back end of, like, trying to. Trying trying instead of just being, you know, and so leaning into just who I am and embracing that helped me to really create that foundation of my brand that I feel solid on and that, like, I know I can just show up, you know, Like, I don't have to worry because I'm just here, you know, I think that's one of.
The biggest in our industry. I really honestly think that's one of the biggest struggles that retailers have, and they don't always know that they're facing it because it's easy to just show up in retail and think off. I show up like this other brand, and if my photos look a certain way and if I price my products, it's certain way I should be successful. Just like, so and so is, but that's not it at all. Like, so and so created a personal brand, so and so created a community. So and so made people feel a certain way, and you can't replicate that. So what does it mean for you to show up authentically? How do you make people feel? And I think we just have to get out of our own way. Like, this fear of showing up, you know, as we're recording this.
I don't know.
Do you have you follow, like, the Spencer and Heidi stuff happening?
I was reading up on that last night. I was like, what is happening?
Like, the millennial in me is like, so here for all of it. And I laugh because as I watch it, everyone's just like, wow, what is Spencer doing? He's just like, live 247 talking about Heidi's album, you know, that she recorded however many years ago, and now he's brought it back to number one. The thing that worked for him is he just showed up. Like, he just showed up. He was purely himself being so authentic, and people are just loving it, and all of us need to do more of that and just cut the fear out of what's holding us back and showing up in the first place.
Yes, yes. And it just. Exactly. It makes it so much easier. You end up attracting the people who you can actually help, the people you actually align with, instead of the people who you don't, you know, like, man. And Ashley, I would like to share just, like, one more thing about the AI stuff, especially for your audience, because. Because it's one of those things that when it was brought to my attention, it, like, landed so hard. But long story short, the first person who brought this to my attention, her name is Dr. Nikki Sweeney out of Australia, and she actually just did a TED talk about this, but it's talking about how men are two times more likely to use AI tools than women. And she was talking about, like, the gender gap when it comes to AI tools and. And women being represented in these tools and all these different things. And, yeah, it might be a little different now. I mean, we're trying to spread the word, you know, and. And change it. But there was a study done that actually men are two times more likely to use the top 50 AI tools than women. And this is an issue because, you know, AI tools have been proven to boost your productivity by up to or by 40%, I believe, which is like working two extra days per week. And if you think about that in the workpl, if more men are using AI tools than Women, like, who is more likely to get that promotion or be offered that raise? And so really, if more men are using AI tools than women, it's going to increase the gender income gap versus decrease it like we've been working at for so long, right? And so thinking about it in that way. And then also, AI tools at this point are actually trained by the users. So whoever is using the tool, that data can be used to train future models. And so if more men are using AI tools than women, the future models of AI, we aren't going to be represented in those. I'm like, guys, AI tools need our feminine energy, right? But okay, I have to share this because this is what got me, right? Is not only the fact that more men are using them than women, but the reason why. And of course it's because, you know, the STEM subjects, the cultural factors like women aren't always welcome. And in sciencey areas or tech related fields, like, we've been kind of raised to feel not quite as techie as men in general. It's just true, Right? But okay, so I still remember the first time another woman was interviewing me for her podcast and she looked at me and she said, so what do you say to the women who feel guilty for using these tools, who feel like they're cutting corners or they're not doing the work? Right? And I was like, this is a thing like, okay, because if you think about it, like how women have been raised in society and stuff, like, we really have to work hard and show the work that we do in order to prove that we're worth the success we see. You know, it's kind of one of those societal, cultural things. And this goes way bigger than AI tools. But then when it comes to AI tools, you know, I have heard this, I've heard this from so many women being like, yeah, like, it feels like I'm cheating, I'm cutting corners. I'm not doing the work if I'm using these tools. And. And so it's one of those things, those internal belief systems that I think we need to change within ourselves, right? Because when our counterparts use these tools, they, you know, think of themselves as productive or innovative or delegating. But when women use these tools, we often think of it as, oh, I feel guilty or I feel like I'm cutting corners, or is this right? Is this cheating? You know, and like, yeah, it's just one of things that I like to share and I like to think about because the more we can encourage other women to embrace these tools, get curious about them, make them work for them, you know. And I also like to share. You can totally use these tools without sacrificing your authenticity or quality of work. And you can boost your productivity so much more by doing so much more in your business, but also finding that wiggle room behind the scenes to actually enjoy your life, spend time with your family, you know, like spending time. So it really is important that we start embracing these tools. So I always like to share, especially for women listener podcasts for sure.
See, I have never again, you've blown my mind. I never thought about it like that, but I completely can understand and empathize with where you're coming from. And really, at the end of the day, it's just about working smarter and not harder so that you can have the life and the balance that you're after.
So that's incredible.
This has been the best explanation of AI that I've had in a long time. Like, this has been so good and so helpful. So you guys, if you're listening, please give Kinsey a follow. I know we'll have this all over social, but this has just been so good. Thank you so much for sharing your light with the world and all these positive aspects of AI. We need to hear more of it. Kinsey, thanks so much for being here today.
Oh my goodness. Thank you so much.
